If there was a panel, it would be under the trunk floor, and it is not. drop the tank and since the fuel filter is up in there too replace it while you are in there and all the old corroded fuel lines. save you some grief next year when the fuel line bursts. and the hose is high pressure so do not use cheap stuff.

Need to replace fuel level sending unit in an, 06' chevy malibu

The sender is in the fuel tank. Some GM vehicle's tanks are such a pain to remove that they have an access panel above it(trunk or rear seat area?) so the sender can be changed more easily. If not, you'll have to drop the tank to change it.

How do I change a fuel pump on a 1999 buick regal

The fuel pump is in the gas tank. more than likely you have to drop the tank to remove/replace the pump. I would contact you local dealers service dept. as some of those cars had an access panel under the back seat to access the pump without having to remove the tank.

If you have an access panel, it should be an hour or less job with common hand tools.

Just had a new fuel pump installed in 2002 Chevy Malibu. Worked great for about a week and then the fuel gauge started reading "empty" when the car has a full tank of gas. What happened?

Fuel pump access panel..

you do have to drop the tank, it is not that hard of a process, once you have it down, there will be a ring that you will need to turn, it will loosen the fuel pump, undo the wires and replace. Be carefull when you pull out the pump it will have the float attached that goes to the fuel gauge.
