This quesiton is beyond the scope of what happens here. You need to get a Jag Service Manual and do some studying. The manual (available at the library) will outline all the steps and tell you what special tools are required. The expertise will have to be supplied by you. I think you will learn that the $500.00 the mechanic wants for this job is $ well spent.

The tools required the push and turn can be purchased on eBay for little money, great tools as they can be used on many vehicles not just jags, makes the piston push back a doddle. discs and pads from my local jAG STEALER £325 pair of Discs £43 europarts and pads £25 - £45 depending on your preference. The best bit you only need to buy the tools once, as u will be changing discs and pads often on the xf. Great car but heavy wear on brake components. Tyres too lol

How do I get piston un on rear calapers on a 2002 s-type jaguar

Go to the auto parts store and ask them for the "rear brake caliper tool to retract the piston". This comes as a square and has sides with different spaced tips. Use your 3/8" ratchet and a 6" extention and as you turn slowly, push inward. This will colapse the piston back into the housing (caliper) and allow you to reinstall the caliper to the hub. The tool costs about $10. Let me know if you need anything else.

2008 S-Type Jag with 19,000 miles. Dealer wants $695 to put on new rear brakes and rotors. Is this reasonable?

Do it yourself

Have you never paid $695 for brake
work before?

Why are you at a dealer?

What about a repair shop down the street

That would be about $300 for the same work

Need to replace the front & rear brakes . Is there any special tools needed to do this job .

For caliper brakes, mainly a large C-clamp or brake cylinder piston tool, to collapes the piston back into the caliper, to install the new pads. If you have rear drum brakes, they make a couple different brake spring tools for removing the springs on the brake shoes.

2008 honda accord replace rear brakes

no, 12mm wrench or ratchet on 12mm socket. the piston is tough to push back in. its a twist in type and you will need some force to push and twist the piston back in. - note rear brake pads wearing out on the new 08-09 accords are very common and if under 16-18 thousand miles it may be covered. honda knows about this problem

I need to replace the rear brakes and rotors on my 2004 Audi A4. Will I need special tools to do this? Can I still do the job without these tools?

'B6' (2001-2004) A4s dont have seperate rotors on the rear brakes like the pre 2001 A4s do. When changing the rear pads + discs the only special tool you will need is a caliper wind back tool. Let me know if you do also need to replace any ABS components aswell as I might be able to advise.

Need 2 change brakes on 94 cadillac deville

Brakes are something that most drivers should not attempt mostly because when you step ,on the brakes you want to stop. You don't say if you have caiper brakes all around or just on the front. I have worked on brakejobs for quite a few years and always do the calipers too. repairs are expensive nowadays as with most repair shops. most shops charge one for things that they don't change so it is expensive. To do a brake job properly one needs specialized tools and know how.
