If you have done the replacement correct the only problem could be that you still have air in the coolant. Try to get that air out from the cooling system.

My 1997 350 5.7 liter chevy suburban is over heating so i replacedthe thermostat and the water pump and now it is over heating even faster am i forgetting to do some thing ?


i have a 1995 chevy 5.7 350 out of a suburban in a 86 chevy pick up an its over heating i done replaced water pump,thermostate,radiator,all new fluids an replaced clucth fan to striaght fan an its still over heating an no bubbl;es in radiator either can sum one please help me fig this out please

2003 PT Cruiser . We have tried every thing replaced thermostat + flushed radiator + replaced hoses + checked fan but two days later it over heats when moving in very slow traffic


HAve you check for a bad water pump?.. sometimes even new thermostat are defective too.
Do you know if your car has a relieve valve to bleed the cooling system. If the system has air it will over heat at low RPM's. Sometimes even flushing the radiator wont firx a cooling system with air.
So make sure about these two things I mentioned.

My truck starts running hot then I turn the heater on and it blows cold air but every once in a while the heater will throw out hot air. Then the temp gauge will go down. I've check med the radiator cap...


I'd still check the thermostat. Or basically just replace it. Have you ever drained all the antifreeze and flushed the system? Good time to do both. If the hose's get real hot that doesn't really mean the thermostat open. Wouldn't they get hot even if the thermostat didnt open.? If the thermostat was stuck open you'd would have cold air and low temp gauge. Then maybe hit a pump or something and have the thermostat stick closed and have high temp. Maybe water pump. Check it when you have the belt off. Spin, pull & push the water pump pulley around. I'd replaced my water pump at about 110,000 on a '97 dodge Dakota. My 97 never had a very good heater. Always heated up more after driving. Idle never got it warmed up.

It continue to over heat even after i got the coolant fan working


EITHER IT NEEDS A RADIATOR OR A WATER PUMP BUT IF YOU OVER HEAT IT TO MUCH IT CAN CRACK YOUR HEAD SO YOU MIGHT WANT TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO WARP YOUR HEAD. I WOULD TRY A WATER PUMP

1991 honda accord over heating when i drive at top speed


Top speed is hard on a car, at that age of vehicle worn water pump and old old with buildup a bad thermostat and radiator with scale buildup on inside and debris on the outside creates more heat than released. try replacing the thermostat and water pump and doing an flush of the cooling system with an oil change and see if that helps. Also a new radiator cap will hold proper pressure on the system so dont forget that.

The car is over heating even when i put water in


check to see that the thermostat is working. if its sticking coolant wont flow well.

if its working, the water pump has likely broken its impellers. check to see if there is good coolant flow. if not. replace the pump.

It should be 200 degrees. If your running cold the only thing that regulates temp is the thermostat. If it is indeed 150 degrees thats why you have no heat.

If you replaced the water pump and the radiator for this condition then it was a waste of money. If you had a water pump or radiator problem it would overheat.

The fact that your blowing cold air tells me the that you really are 150 degrees or the heater core is plugged.

91 trooper water pump replacement


If your car is over-heating, chances are it's the water pump or thermostat. These two parts should be changed out at the same time because if your pump is old enough to go out then the thermostat is not far behind.





Step1 serpentine247bs_thumb.jpg First you'll need to pull out the old water pump. Look in your vehicles owners manual and find the diagram showing what all that stuff under your hood is. locate the water pump (usually underneath alternator running on the same belt) you'll need to take this belt (serpentine or other) off to start pulling the old pump. There should be a tension bar or arm that easily loosens the belt with the right size socket. Step2 Once you've gotten the belt off you can begin to remove the old pump. There should be only a few large bolts holding it in. After you've gotten the old pump out, place the silicone sealer on the new water pumpmag-glass_10x10.gif 9around the edges where it meets the gasket. Then apply the sealer to the gasket as well, just use your fingers to spread it on. Now place the new pump with gasket, where the old one was, replace the bolts and be sure not to crank down too tight on the bolts or you might crack the gasket and your pump wont seal. Step3 thermo_thumb.jpg Now that you've gotten the new pump installed, you'll want to replace the thermostat. the thermostat could be located near the water pump or on the other side of the engine. So once again, refer to the vehicles owners manual and find where the thermostat is. You might need to remove some hoses and/or lines to get to the thermostat, so just be careful not to break/bend/crack or damage anything (the older the vehicle, the better chance of something breaking) Pull the old thermostat and replace it with the new and you're all done. Don't forget to put everything (hoses, lines, nuts'n bolts) back where they came from and off you go!
