Question about 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt Coupe

1 Answer

2007 Chevy Cobalt, automatic, runs awful ONLY in heavy rain, NO code When driving in heavy rain or if driving through standing water on roadways, my Cobalt will start making a roaring noise (almost like the noise that a car with a big muffler makes) and seems to drag and not accelerate well. It seems like if the water dries out quick enough, it kind of surges and drives normally again. But if whatever it is that's getting wet stays wet longer, something starts making a knocking noise. I'm assuming it's the engine, but not sure. It still knocks whether in drive, neutral or park. If it gets to this point, I have to pull over and turn off the car, let it dry out and then continue on my way. No code comes up at the service place and no lights on dashboard. Also, during the fuel pump module recall, the service place cracked my gas tank, so the entire gas tank had to be replaced. Seems unrelated, but it never messed up in the rain prior to this, so I don't know if this could have anything to do with it or not. Any ideas?

It seems related-module may be an aftermarket made in mexico--chec engine area for any abnormalities--may need tuneup and injector service--but fuel pump/delivery 1st--consider scanning car with a tech II cause this runs a data stream for precize analysis

2007 CHEVY COBALT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND THE FAN IS CONSTANTLY RUNNING

this is normal for most vehicles, it is because the water temp in radiator continues to rise after you shut the engine off. would not worry about it unless it dose not shut off at all. or never runs

Find the end of the condensate drain tube under the vehicle (passenger side) and clean/blow it out -- it's clogged.

2005 chevy cobalt check engine light on

i went to advance auto and they pulled the check engine light code and they said it was just wet electrical equipment from all the rain we have had and that it would dry out in a couple of drives so they reset the code and told me to come back in if it comes back on.

Jetta GLX 1998 (old body), when it rains heavy, car run rough

Sounds like you need new wires and or cap and rotor, had the same problem on my jetta 1.8L when I would drive it in heavy rain it would bog down and misfire. The water blows threw the rad right onto your distributor and wires causing the short (old and cracked or just defective). Try it out I'm sure that will fix it.
