Question about 2000 Saturn Ls 4dr Sedan
First thing to check on an injected engine with high idle is for intake vacuum leaks. Unmetered air entering the intake can cause high idle, as the o2 sensors add fuel to correct the mixture. The result of this is often a high idle. Spray carb cleaner around the intale and on vacuum hoses and connections. Don't forget the power brake booster, which is powered by engine vacuum. You don't mention engine size, however I've seen the rubber boots on the intake leak several times on the 3.0. Try not to do this carb cleaner test on an incredibly hot engine, and stay away from the exhaust. BE SAFE. Another method is to use propane to sniff out vacuum leaks. Either way, engine speed will either pick way up, or it will stuble badly when you find the leak, depending on location. Good luck!
