Question about Mitsubishi Mighty Max

1 Answer

You can drive the vehicle about 2-3 miles. When the engine begins to get warm it will shut off. When you try to crank it back it will not start until the engine cools down again.During this time of not starting the fire from the distributer going to the plugs is dead. I have replaced the coil, which cost $80.00 and it didnot solve the problem. Please help it you can. Thanks.

Sounds like the crankshaft and or the camshaft positioning sensors.. they're locate dn the top of the engine block, typically towards the front of the engine... should be a cheap test/ replace fix thing as they are like 6 bucks each - once you have the part in hand, it shouldn't be too hard to locate and replace..
Best regards
Ck

Heaters slow at warming up

In normal circumstances the heater wouldn't begin blowing warm air until the vehicle has travelled 5 miles - call it 5 minutes. That's because the thermostat only begins to open at around that mileage/time and allows coolant to circulate around the engine. Before that - there just isn't any warm coolant in the heater matrix.

After 10 miles/10 minutes of normal driving the engine will be at its correct operating temperature and the coolant will be hotter - as will the circulating coolant in the heater matrix. That's when the heater blows the hottest air.

If you're sure that the heater has lost efficiency it may be due to air being trapped in the heater matrix/coolant system, or a blockage caused by limescale/engine corrosion within the heater matrix itself.

To remove any trapped air, set the heater to maximum, remove the radiator cap/coolant bottle cap and let the engine tick over for 10 minutes.

If the heater matrix is blocked/partially blocked, drain the coolant system, refill with plain water, set the heater control to open .. and let the engine tick over for 10 minutes. Drain it again.

Refill again with plain water and add a can of 'radiator flush'. Follow the instructions on the can of 'radiator flush'.

Drain again and refill with coolant/water.

If the heater is still inefficient then the only option is to replace it - and that's not an easy job.

2005 GMC Yukon Denali's computer shuts down after the truck warms up

sounds like a fuel problem, how many miles on vehicle? as a quick fix it would be worth using a fuel addative , you haven't said if petrol or diesel, if petrol get addative that covers the catalytic converter ,having a blocked exhaust system can cause engine to stall also get the OBD codes read as this will tell you what if any sensors/switch's are faulty

1992 D15 honda civic after warm stalls out and won't start back up!!!

Check for spark on a spark plug wire, when it stalls and won't start back up. If no spark, the ignition will have to be checked-the coil, igniter, and crank position sensor or the pick up coil inside the distributor-whichever you have-a pick up coil tells the computer crank position.
If there is spark, check if the fuel pump gets hot and shuts down. Check fuel pressure or check if you have gas up to the engine.

this sounds like an external voltage regulator issue..when it gets hot or shuts itself off the battery is whats running the vehicle..until the operating voltage drops below minimal.. then it all stops..get the charging system checked at a parts store.. they do it for free..

You could have a shop check pump pressure - usually the cause is a weak pump or problems with the valve body.
Chances are if you just sit in drive at idle, it will also move on its own in a couple of minutes once the fluid warms up.
I never recommend changing fluid after 100k.

The hot air from the vents begins to cool down when the vehicle is stopped or slows down.

sounds like a possible plugged heater core, restricting the flow of coolant. those require a special tool to remove, quick disconnect, just remove both hose from the heater core and back flush the heater core with a garden hose, NOTICE DO NOT DO THIS WHILE HOT IT WILL BURN YOU, this can make a mess, flush it both ways untill it flows clean and with even pressure, then refill the coolant and road test the vehicle to see if is changed.
