Check with - look up vehicles & check part #s (I'd do it but I'm answering via phone)

Testimonial: "Absolutely brilliant! Was able to identify all parts on both models and establish no difference with bearing carriers and hub carriers. The only difference was the sensor, which changed in 1998. Thanks again"

The cables are universal but normally go by length of cable if the lengths are different. When the hubs were replaced, did the hubs get replaced with the ones that are for ABS? the ones for abs will have a ring of teeth so the sensor can read the hub speed.

There are ABS wheel speed sensors on the front wheels behind the hubs. It is possible if the hub where replaced either the pick up ring mounted to the hub itself was not installed or might have purchase non abs hubs or they just did not switch the wheel speed pickup ring on the new hub. Another thing could be either the wheel speed sensors are mis adjusted or when they replaced the hubs they hung the spindle by the abs wire and either pulled it out of socket or messed up the wires internally. Here is a basic abs system if you have any other questions please let me know. Also please leave good feedback.

Both abs and trac loc lights are on in 1998 park ave

A scan tool can determine which wheel bearing hub is bad, the wheen bearing hub contains the magnetic pickup and tone wheel that do the calculations (pick up magnetic impulses) for the ABS and TRAC control, their signals come from the same source.

Hope this helps.

You have a relay in the underhood fuse box. Remove it. This will take the ABS out of the loop. You will now have conventional braking capabilities. If you still have the pull then the problem is not ABS related. What a technician needs to do is for the ABS issue , drive the vehicle with the data scanner hooked up in order to see each wheels speed. A code should be stored if any sensor is transmitting the wrong speed. He also will be able to look at the data for all 4 wheels at the same time. If one is different then thats what needs to be addressed. Also not all parts have the reluctor ring for the ABS on it. Are you sure you purchaced the correct part ??. For this year truck its hard to imagine they sold you the wrong part but if the data shows 0 speed on that wheel that would mean the connector and wiring are most likely fine. If the wiring was an issue you should have a high voltage type code. If you clear the code and it stays off untill you start rolling this would indicate a wheel issue. If you clear the code and it doesnt clear this would indicate a wiring or ABS unit issue.

I changed the brake pads on a 05 equinox

Did you bump the ABS pickup at the wheel hub when you changed the brakes? Or are the wires maybe nicked? The noise is normal and might go away depending on the brake pad type you replaced with. The ABS problem might be caused by you.

Changed nearside rear wheel hub xj6 sport

i think you replaced the wrong hub., hub come with and without abs the ones with out abs fit the same but are missing a ridge on the back that has bumps. that is what the sensor reads for the abs and for the speed. i think you got a hub for a can without abs.the only other thing is that you cut the wire that goes to the wheel sensor when u replaced the hub. not matter what for some reason the info from that sensor isnt making it to the computer. start with a quick check of the wire (dont waste to much time with that) then look behind the hub and see if there is the ridge for the abs. if not or you cant tell i would just replace the hub anyway because that is the most likely answer to your problem.
on the bottom it has the abs ring - just for your referance

Abs brake problem

I found my solution on the web a few years ago. My 2002 RVS had permanent ABS lights and no ABS.

It was suggested to check the ABS electrical connections at the brake disks . There are quick connects there and I found a corroded connector on the front passenger side. My wife started the RVS and put it in gear. With the brake pedal pressed, I wiggled the connectors and the ABS light went "off and on" right away. I replaced the connector and it never happened again. It is likely 4 years ago.

Worth a try.
