Engine managment light on, cat light on, no power. it has been on diagnostics and new coil pack + plugs fitted as diagnostics came up with coil pack all been reset and drove away ok then got to hill and...

Wasn't properly diagnosed with the codes
that were there at the time any work was performed

Try a different more competent shop

Codes do not tell you what is wrong

Have to use the codes, diagnostic charts
& component test

Sounds like they just threw parts at it

How do I change the head gasket on a 2002 Mitsubishi eclipse GT V6

First, why do you need to change just the head gasket? If your engine was run hot, you'll need a lot more than just a head gasket! Heads will need to be checked for warpage & cracks by a machine shop.

Second, this is a BIG job that you are fixing to jump on! This is a interference engine and if not done properly, you can very easily end up causing more harm than good! This site is not a good enough source to even begin to take on a project such as this. JMHO

If you intend on doing this job yourself, go buy a haynes or chiltons manual. You can pick 1 up at most any parts stores. Hope this helps you.

Oh, just a little more good advise, STOP red lining your engine! Over revving an engine is not good on the engine!!! ;)

How can I tell which v6 is in my 1983 ford ranger

As far as I know there was only one V6 engine offered on that vehicle in 1983 and that was a 2.8 liter V6. (There were a range of 4 cyl engines offered though).

A decode of the VIN on the vehicle should tell you which engine was fitted in the vehicle when new. (In a vehicle that old the original engine could have been replaced with something different).

Replaced the mass air flow sensor on my 2004 verona but car still has engine light on showing misfire on 5, but wont show 2nd code, and while driving the engine light is on and going uphill loses powe

Mileage & years have little to do with any problems

OBD Codes do not tell you what is wrong

Codes do not tell you to replace anything

Codes along with diagnostic manuals & charts, are
used to find the failed component & then test to see
if it failed & needs replacing

You mention a misfire
The MAF Sensor is common to both sides of the engine,
both banks, but you have a misfire code for one side,so that
has not been worked on

You need to find a repair shop that actually spends 20 min
per visit talking to you & you both go on a road test before leaving the car

No road test ,no doing business there

You need to develop a way to explain why your at a shop

You need to make it clear you ONLY want the current problem
diagnosed & you do not want the car back until it is.

If you only do ALL your own work, then say so, & we will
approach this a different way

Will1999 wrangler tj 4.0 engine intercange with 2002 grand cherokee 4.0

Hello,

You need to call a Dodge dealer, have the VIN info from both Jeeps, they will tell you what will and will not work, if they dont call another Jeep & or Dodge dealer.

To my understanding only some sensor placement differences make these engines different.

For sure the 02 WJ intake will make more power then the 99, it will be worth it to make that intake fit.

Good Luck!

Hope this helps.

Dose a 2.5 liter engine fit into a 95 chevy s-10 when it currently hasw a 2.2 liter engine

probably will physically fit and even bolt to the transmission but the computer and wiring harness are very likely different and difficult to replace.

What battery should be used in the car?

It depends on which brand of car battery you prefer. You will get a range of different opinions on which brands are the best based on experiences with different brands.
If you are happy with the Exide brand then the battery selection depends upon which engine you have fitted in the car - the 2.2 litre or 2.4 litre. Anyhow here are some Exide models that will fit your vehicle. You need an Exide 75 size/model with the correct minimum CCA (cold cranking amps)

2.4 Litre engine - Exide 75 - 600 cold cranking amps

2.2 litre engine - Exide 75 - 525 cold cranking amps

Any large battery retailer will be able to help you select a battery suitabe for your car but many specialise in particular brands. Personally I prefer to select a heavy duty battery that is suitable for the vehicle and will offer more than the minimum required cranking amps.

Need to see if motor will fit my 1991 wrangler

It's usually easier to downgrade than "upgrade"...As long as you can use all the sensors from the old engine, anything from the new one can be left in place and unplugged (such as if the new one has a knock sensor and yours did not, leave it in there and don't attach it to anything) By doing this you won't need to change harness or computer, and the computer will be getting what it needs to operate properly.Just don't use any new sensor unless it has the identical part number (it may look the same but values internally may differ!

what you need is a Hollander book that tells you what the difference is in the engines there may be just little diff and it will tell you what you can swap .
and most salvage yard have these books and dont charge to look it up for you.
