We have a 2001 chevy s10 bought it used roughly a little over a year ago since then we've spent $1000 on the same problem the security light comes on and the truck won't start we've had different parts replaced, which seems to help for a short time and then it starts again...as recently as this morning we'd like to remove this security feature or by pass it..but we've been told it's installed from the factory and can not be done anyone have any solutions????
It can be done....Start the truck and look at key cylinder under those covers of the seering column. There is a yellow wire that runs to it....CUT IT...Lol...really after its running cut that yellow wire..Just member to look at the key cylinder. you will see very small yellow wire and black and maybe a white....Cut the yellow on and it kills the factory antitheft. however the light wil be on the dash that says anti theft. If you are so inclined just take the dash panel out and remove he bulb. I did...

My 1990 S10 pick-up had a similar problem too. It would start up fine (while the engine was cold) then once the engine warmed up it would idle very rough, sputter, and even stall out. My grandpa and I found what was wrong finally. The fuel distributor had been cracked, so when the engine warmed up it would miss (giving either too much or not enough fuel). So I recommend that you check that. Hope this helps.
It Might seem rough but compared to my F-250, my back likes my 2000 S10 alot more at the end of the day. I drive between 700 and 1000 miles a week. And remember this is not a luxury car. It is a Pick-up truck. Thanks
please someone post the answer, my truck is the same way. It used to just need to sit for about 15 min. and would start. Now it won't start at all.
thanks
