The only starter wires you can possibly get wrong are the 2 small leads on solenoid.

How do you replace battery in Oldsmobile ciera cutlas 1999

Undo the straps securing the battery.

The complicated bit. To save problems with cutting power to your radio and the ECM, you need to maintain power as you change the batteries over. Place the new battery on the side of the engine bay, in the right attitude to drop it into place. Take two pieces of insulated wire and twist it around the bottom of the terminals on the new battery, and the other end to the clamps on the old battery.

Remove the clamps on the old battery, and place it on the other side of the engine bay. Put the new battery into place. Put the clamps onto the new battery and slide them down. Tighten them loosely. Remove the wires from the bottom of the terminal and tap the clamps down and fully tighten.

Replace the holding strap.

Replace old starter with new but still car won't start

Have you checked the stater solenoid (located on the top of the starter motor) wire for 12+ volts when the key is held in the crank position, do that first, you may have a defective starter switch.

Just bought a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlas Cierra V6 motor. It ran a little ruff and was backfiring a little herre and there, so we put new plugs and wires on it. It was running great until I decided to take...

Good Evening, you know the old saying if I had a dollar for every time that happened. I have people at work that take the cars to the car wash and clean the engines and what happens is they get the plugs and wires wet and then they have to pull off the wires from the coils and the plugs and dry them all off. Also be sure to check your vacuum on the top of your intake where the throttle body is and make sure it didnt come undone. Hope this helps.

I want to know how to remove the stater motor and replace it

first locate the starter. it will be on either side of the motor where the motor joins the transmission.

first and MOST IMPORTANT. unhook the battery. as a side note if your stereo is of the anti-theft variety make sure you know the code and how to enter it.

undo the bolts there are usually 2 and sometimes 3

do NOT unhook the wires from the starter until you have the replacement in hand.

transfer the wires one at a time from the old to the new starter so that you will have them in the right place.

bolt the starter back up

hook up the battery

that's about all there is to it.
