When was last healthy tune up? Plugs, wires, All fluids & filters? Especially fuel filter. With quality of gas these days, make it a habit of adding a good fuel system cleaner every couple of months. I'd start there.

Re: Bog issue - have an OBII scan done (fault scan) any good auto parts store can do this for free. They will pull codes and identify what is causing bog problem. It's easier to do this way vs just throwing parts at it. (Could be alot of things - MAF, TPS, vac leak, etc...)
Re: Power steering - that sounds like steering column issue and should be looked at by a trusted shop.

Try changing the fuel filter. If it clogs up the engine won't get the fuel it needs to run at wide throttle openings, the engine will ****** the timing, and you'll lose power. With less throttle the filter can flow well enough for the engine to run properly.

If you heard a hiss, that's probably what to look for. With your engine running, wiggles all your vacuum lines around, and try to find that hiss again. It will be a broken or cracked or loose vacuum line somewhere. A stethoscope, or a length of fuel hose held to your ear can sometimes help you find them.
