Question about Mazda 323

1 Answer

When i first start it up,it smokes real bad,i would say the smoke is like whitey grey, but if i push the accelerater it will go like a dark sooty colour, and start missing, also droplets of water start to come out. it will be like that for only a few minutes and it will all clear tidy then, and wont smoke at all,but when i drive it then it seems to hit a flat spot in between 50- 60 and no more power, i will hit the accelerator once or twice and it seems to come back ! it has been suggested that it could be either headgasket, the cat on exhaust or possibly the egr valve ? i must say though that it doesnt overheat at all and neither does it lose any coolant what so ever? can you help please.

You definitely have a blown headgasket.

My BMW 525i pcv tubes was broken replaced all cleaned the icv had a lot of smoke cleared up within a week .seemed to have fixed but now I have small trail of sooty smoke

As a general rule black smoke is soot from excess fuel, white smoke is either steam or a great deal of unburned fuel (mainly diesels) and blue or blue/grey smoke is burning oil.

A trail of sooty smoke would indicate too much fuel is entering the cylinders. Perhaps you have a dribbling injector or a faulty sensor or perhaps your injectors are old and worn with bad spray patterns.

My diesel engine bmw x3 is smoke too much

If it is black sooty smoke injectors are putting to much fuel into the cylinders so they may need to be tested
Whitish grey smoke could be extra oil burning due to busted cylinder rings or head gasket allowing coolant into cylinder

What can the fault be if there comes a black smoke out of the exhaust of your 2008 1.4tdci ford ikon

Hi, depends what colour black smoke, is it bluey black, grey black, whitey black, You may have to take it to a Diesel fuel shop, It may be the timing on the engine or the injector pump, (the pump may need to be timed to the engine, also the Injector pump also may need calibrating.) To calibrate pump you need to take it to a Diesel Fuel Workshop. Due to wear and conditions the injectore nozzles, injector pump, timing and performance of the engine will change over time.

White smoke belching out but will not start

white smoke is usually water, grey=oil dark grey=other fluids. with the belching and other symptoms i would be inclined to believe you have a blown head gasket.

Car starts ok will idle but when you go to drive over 1500 revs car stutters and blows out clean smoke (fule not oil)

Does it overheat at all?

White smoke? or Dark grey smoke?

Could be Oxygen sensor (grey) or head gasket (white).

Black smoke coming out of tailpipe when started

if its dark black smoke and the tip of the exhaust is pretty black the car is running rich, too much fuel is being used, needs a tune, if the smoke was white or grey its too lean, not enough fuel, if the smoke is blue its burning oil, id say the car just needs a tune or service.

Why is my truck smoking grey smoke

Gray is a sign of oil consumption, worn rings, or real bad valve guides.
I am assuming it's gas powered?

Why does my honda accord smoke reel bad

This is either worn valve stem seals or worn out oil rings. Have someone follow you if the car smokes more as you release the throttle on deceleration it is most likely valve stem seal if it smokes more on acceleration it is worn oil piston rings. If the smoke is white you have a blown head gasket blue smoke means burning oil, black smoke means too rich (to much gas reaching motor)

Grey smoke from exhaust

Hi. This will be a turbo issue. It is malfunctioning.

The turbo unit is the power booster for the engine. Its main function is to push air into the engine and is operated by the exhaust gases. When the unit fails, it could cause the turbine to stick, which would cause drastic loss of power or what you are experiencing now, which will be, oil leakages into the exhaust turbine area. This oil leak will, generally, emit a very high level of grey smoke.

Basically, your turbo is damaged. it will need to be replaced.

Smoke from exhaust... toyota rav4 1996

Welcome to FIXYA

There in only 1 thing i can think of where the white smoke is from it could be anitfreeze if so it would mean a cracked head or a bad head gasket if it gets worse then you have a big problem but if you check the water level and it looks fine then you should be ok for a while

if it was black smoke or a real dark gray then it would be oil

i hope this helps you out have a good day
