Timmimg belts on honda vehicles are very in depth and on some models equiped with and balance shaft system require special tools ! It can be done at home but i highly recommend you purchase a repair manual that will give you a step by step instruction and i also recommend you change your water pump when doing this as well while everything is off the front of the engine ! Please note that all the engine Compoments must be timmed properly and in the right sequence or else engine damage can occur !

Set motor to TDC remove under splash sheild cover remove upper engine mount upper bracket remove covers (after removing dampner pulley/ balancer) loosen tensioner idler pulley. remove a batery tied down screw and theres a spot on the tensioner top where you can screw it in to adjust the tension and hold it in place so you can retension or loosen easier and tighten down tensioner bolt. change belt and seals and water pump while your in there. install recheck timing, tension,... recheck timing. rotate engine 3 full turns and go back to TDC (top dead center) and recheck timing. reassemble everything and your done.

The indicator light is on and it's a B 12. Honda Pilot 2008. The book says air filter, etc Any ideas?

Time to maintenance... B12 just means an oil change and inspection (B), tire rotation (1), and replacing the air cleaner element/dust & pollen filter/inspect drive belt (2).

Hope helps (remember to rate this answer).

TIMING BELT REPLACEMENT TIME IS AT 105000.IF TIMING BELT NEED CHANGING I WOULD ALSO CHANGE WATER PUMP BECAUSE IT HAS TO BE REMOVED TO GET TO TIMING BELT.TIMING BELT HAS TO BE REPLACED.IT WOULD BE CHEAPER TO PAY $775.00 THEN TO PAY $3000.00 OR $4000.00 FOR A NEW ENGINE THATS INCLUDING LABOR IN ALL.
