Abs warning light

The ABS warning light came on. I checked brake fluid level but that was okay. After driving around, I noticed the warning light only came on when I used the right turn signal and I could hear a small "thump" as it happened.

Try checking the brakes itself or your rotors. that should be the problem.

If you have a diagnostic tool, hook it up and get the code from the ABS light. You CAN NOT do this with all OBD II scanners. Only some will read all trouble codes.

The thump may be being caused from ABS motor pack, or a wheel sensor, if your cavalier has one. I can't remember what year the wheel sensors started.

if you are unable to do these things yourself, I would highly recommend you go to a shop. And not all shops will work on ABS Modules.

Oh and it may be as simple as a bad wire crossing with something else, causing your ABS to think it's not working.

Hope this helps.

The Brake warning light comes on. I checked the brake fluid level in master cylinder & it was okay. The fluid looked dirty. Please help

Sharon, Check to make sure emergency brake is not on and fully released, try not to drive your vehicle if the red brake warning light is on. Could have air in the system from a small crack in brake line, faulty master cylinder, faulty caliper etc. Have a good tech. check braking system, diagnose and estimate repair.

I have a 1985 Chevy Astro that has a light on the dashboard that keeps coming on; it looks like a small ball with handles on each side. Can you tell me what it means as I don't have a manual.

Your are most likely seeing a brake system warning fault. The first step would be to check your brake fluid level. Your system may have a level sensor, and the light may be a waring that the fluid is low. If you find that your fluid is low, top it off and have your system inspected by a qualified mechanic to see why the fluid was low. If your fluid level is okay, and you have ABS brakes you will need to have your braking system diagnosed by a mechanic with an ability to communicate with the ABS controle module.

Red spanner warning light

Brake Light. Make sure you are not driving with hand brake on. Check brake-fluid level. Top off brake fluid if low and make appointment to check brakes. Driving with brake light can be dangerous; deal with this soon. Call tow truck or drive carefully and slowly to shop.
ABS (antilock brake system) Light. Indicates either low brake-fluid level, stuck brake caliper or faulty ABS. Check brake fluid and make appointment to get brakes checked. Call tow truck or drive carefully and slowly to shop.
Oil Light. Either engine is very low on oil or there is no oil pressure. Pull over and turn off engine immediately. Check oil level and add oil if low. Turn engine back on to see if light has gone off. If oil light is still on, bad oil pump (no oil pressure) is likely. Call tow truck.
Check Engine Light. Car's computer senses engine problem. Difference in performance may not be noticeable, but make appointment to have car diagnosed. This usually cost around $65-$75 to do. OK to drive. If problem is serious, computer may switch to limp-home (low-power) mode and you won't have option of waiting to bring car into shop.
Air Bag Light. Get air bags checked. Problem could prevent them from activating in accident. OK to drive, but not safe in accident.
Battery Charge Light. Alternator is not charging. OK to drive, but turn off any unneeded electrical devices (radio, heater, defroster) and avoid starting engine more than necessary. Bring car into shop soon to avoid getting stranded. When alternator is not charging, battery loses charge and car stops working.
Emissions Lights (O2 sensor, EGR, check emissions). Depending on car model, these lights may indicate problem with emissions sensor or may light up at certain mileage, usually 60,000 miles (100,000 km). Get sensors checked. OK to drive. If problem exists, car might get poor gas mileage.

1999 1500 ls abs and brake light on at same time then off just sometime

WHEN YOU SEE BOTH LIGHTS AT THE SAME TIME YOU ARE HAVING BRAKE FAILURE EITHER MASTER CYLINDER FAILING OR ABS BRAKE MODULATOR FAILING.CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IN BRAKE MASTERCYLINDER. IF BRAKE FLUID LEVEL OKAY. I HAVE SEEN CASES WHERE ALTERNATOR FAILING CAUSING BATTERY VOLTS TO DROP AT 11.8 VOLTS CHECK BATTERY VOLTS AT BATTERY WHILE ENGINE RUNNING SHOULD BE 13.5 TO 14.5 VOLTS AT BATTERY WITH ENGINE RUNNING.IF BATTERY POWER IS OKAY.MORE LIKELY BRAKE MASTERCYLINDER AND ABS MODULATOR COULD BE FAILING. TAKE VECHICLE TO A GARAGE LET THEM CODE SCAN TO SEE WHAT CAUSING ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT TO COME ON.CODE SCANNING WILL SAVE YOU TIME AND MONEY.

Mini cooper Warning lights for abs, low tire, traction comes on

Ok, check the brake fluid level for a start. This could mean a few things. Your brake pads might be worn down, which would bring a yellow warning light on(triangle), at the same time with the pads being low it will have displaced the fluid, making the level low, this would be a red light on. Now because of this the body control module has detected these faults, will have turned the abs off, hence the abs light.
If brake fluid is low, this could confirm my theory.
If its low, top up with dot 5 brake fluid and take to garage to have new pads fitted.

ABS light

ABS STANDS FOR ANTI LOCK BRAKES. FIRST CHECK THAT YOU HAVE THE PROPER AMOUNT OF BRAKE FLUID. IF THE FLUID LEVELS ARE OKAY, THEN YOU PROBABLY HAVE A FAULTY ABS SENSOR.
