You will need to check and see if you are getting voltage to the votlage regulator wire on the alternator , also there should be a charging system fuse , check to see if it is blown ? Sometimes if a vehicle has been jump started it can blow the charging circuit fuse or if its been accidentaly jumped backwards can vlow the fuse as well ! Is the replacement alternator a remanufactured unit ? Sometimes these are bad right out of the box ?

71 c10 not staying charged... new battery alternator fuses good and new voltage regulator

Maybe it wasn't running long enough to charge up the battery?
Stop trying to jump it, when you are having problems with it dying, take the battery off and have it charged. And/or buy a $20 voltmeter to see what the battery shows. If it says less than 12 volts, it is discharged, and needs charging. A good battery that is not run down should have at least 12.5 volts. A new battery that is charged should have very close to 13 volts, maybe 12.8 volts.
When you have the truck running, check the alternator for charging. You put the voltmeter right on the battery and check it again. This time, with truck running, battery should show at least 13.5 volts. That shows the alternator is working. A good alternator will put out about 13 or 14 volts-the regulator will keep it from going any higher to prevent problems, like a melting battery or electrical parts burning out.
I would say get the charging system working right, then address the problem of dying at stop lights. That could be a carburetor problem, if the alternator is working.

Nissan Altama Starter Relay electrical problems or a fuse?

Double check the battery positive connection wiring carefully as it commonly has connection problems when the battery is changed.

My battery light turned on. I checked the altenator. It was fine so I bought a brand new battery, but the light turned back on the next day? What else can be causing the battery light to turn on?

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

If the battery light is on, I strongly suggest that you have the battery charged. It can be an indication of a weak battery or a faulty alternator. If the battery light still on after charging then the problem will surely be on the alternator itself. If that's the case the alternator should be replaced to resolve the problem.

If the battery won't hold charge even on a new alternator then the problem will be on the battery itself. It surely is in the end of it's service life and replacement will be necessary.

You may try to reset it to by removing the positive battery connector, letting it sit for at least 5mins. then reconnect it again. This will reset the system and can get the battery light off.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

I have a brand new battery in my 2000 Honda Civic & the car will not start now. The battery was installed 2 days ago & the car started just fine & ran fine, but then I didn't drive it for 2...

Check the function of the alternator. Charge the battery with a battery charger or jump start the engine. While the engine is running use a voltmeter to check the voltage at the battery posts. Red to + and black to -. You should have between 13.5 − 16 volts. If you do not the alternator is bad or the drive belt is loose. If the alternator checks ok then something is on that is drawing power from the battery and running it down. Check under hood, trunk, glove box, and interior lights. Can also be a brake light switch causing the brake lights to stay on. In rare cases it can also be a stuck relay such as a power window relay. From you description I think you will find the alternator is ok and your problem is something is on and running the battery down.

Battery light on 1999 Ford Explorer

first, check battery voltage with engine off. It should be @ 12 1/2 volts.
With engine running, it should be @ 14 volts.
If yes, then check for a bad connection at alternator. Look closely at the terminals for corrosion.
There should be BK/DG wire supplying charging amperage to the battery. It does not go through a relay.
Check the mega fuse (175 amp) in the battery junction box (ride side or engine compartment I think). check connection 122 & 197 in same area. good luck
