Question about 2002 Toyota Camry

2 Answers

I have a 2002 Toyota Camry LE V6. I wanted to run a power wire to my amplifier in the trunk but can not find a pre-existing hole to run it from the battery through the firewall. I was wondering if there is any pre-existing hole to run it through or will I have to drill a new hole. If I have to drill a new whole, where exactly should I drill the hole.

Hi, there are no extra holes; but if the amp isn't too big, you may be able to run it off the accessory buss under the instrument panel. Sometimes you can even find an unused slot in the interior fuse box. If this will not work, you can drill a hole near the existing penetrations by the brake master cylinder. This will keep the modification apparent to anyone that comes behind you to work on the electrical buss of the car. Use a rubber grommet in the hole to prevent the metal from cutting into the wire insulation. I would not hook the wire directly to the battery, but rather to the hot terminal of the relay box. Route the wire carefully under the dash to avoid getting it caught in the pedals, parking brake, or hood release cable. Use wire ties to hold it to existing harnesses. Check behind the pillar to see how existing harnesses (for example, the speaker wires) are routed to the back of the car, and follow that routing. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Just follow the fuel pump wiring as it's in the trunk and follow it forward as it comes from the box right next to the battery. Take the carpet out of the trunck and the wires your looking for are right at the base of the rear seat back in the middle of the car you can remove the rear seat bottom to see this wire on the way to the front. route your new wire right along with these and go though the same holes they do.

I have a 2002 toyota camry and the motor died so the put a new motor. the motor the put in my car is a V6 3000 Four Cam24. is this the same motor

The 2002 LE had a V6 option, and this should be the same motor you have had installed. Changing from a 4-cyl to a V6 is highly unlikely.

You should be able to access it from inside the trunk. You may have to remove some carpet panels to get to it.

Timing chain or belt?

The 2002-2006 Camry received the next generation 2.4L 4-cylinder engine (model 2AZ-FE), which combines decent power with excellent fuel economy. This engine does not have a timing belt, it has a chain that does not need to be replaced.
The second choice is very smooth and powerful 3.0-liter 24-valve all-aluminum V6 engine.
Starting from 2004, the 3.3-liter V6 DOHC VVT-i engine is available on SE V6 model.
Both, the 3.0L and 3.3L V6 engines have a timing belt that must be replaced at certain interval

92 toyota camry e electrical question

I had the SAME problem with my 1992 Camry LE...except without the water..First, check the back up lamp fuse (there is more than one circuit on that fuse, not sure which). The water would have likely shorted out the circuit. First check for power at the reverse bulb while the car is in reverse (You can do this with the car off) If there is power, check the ground wire, if it is bad...if you splice the ground wire before the connector and run a new wire to a ground in the trunk, then it should work..thats what was wrong with mine..hope this helps
