check the solenoid on petrol line from fuel pump to carburettor is switching off petrol to carburettor when switching, you should hear the solenoid clicking when operating. Alternatively you can disonnect pipe fueline at carburettor, turn key ,if petrol comes out of line make sure it shuts off when you turn switch from petrol to LPG

1990 f150 ignition

he probably hooked up the toggle because the ign. swith was bad .the key turns the acuator which turns the switch . it sounds like you replaced the wrong piece . when you unhook the connector on the switch follow the wires to make sure he didn't cut the wire . hopefully he just added a wire to activate the solenoid . Good Luck

I start my car but it immediatly shuts off and the theft sys light flashes could this light be the reason?

the ignition swith reads the key chip when key is turned, this is a common problem, the ignition switch will need to be replaced, after replacing the swith reprograming will be needed, to program you will need a battery charger to keep battery from going dead, after installing new switch, turn charger on, turn key to crank then release key leaving ignition on, you will see the dash lights, leave key on for about 15-20 min, until you see theft light go out, if light doesnt go out then repeat process, crank for 2 sec, then leave key on 15-20 mins until security/theft light goes out, hope this helps.

Engine continues to run after switched off. The ignition physically operates normally. It just wont shut the car off. is it the switch?

it is likely the igntion switch, not the lock cylinder. the ign switch is attached to the lock cylinder where the key goes in.

Truck wont start

with an assistant near the key switch, get under truck and, using a rubber mallet or block of wood, turn the key and strike the starter nearest the large solenoid (identified by a usually round cylinder about 2 inches in diameter and with at least one large and one small wire attached). The solenoid "piston" needs lubrication, but this will get you started for now, assuming you have tested all electrical connections to starter/battery
