Question about Ford F-250

1 Answer

I have a 98 Ford F250 with a 5.4 engine. I bought it, drove it around the block, realized it needed manifolds and a tune up but it still ran decent, so I pulled it in the shop and gave it manifolds and gaskets, and a set of plugs. Well when we tried to start it and pull it out of the shop it would barley haul it self. I put it on The computer and 2 codes came up (p0353 and p0357. I changed coil packs 3 and 7 and it make no difference? I'm stumped. It ran way better before we pulled it in the shop. lol

My car either has a cracked block, needs head gasket or? When I put water in the radiator, it comes out the oil pan without starting the engine.

I think a cracked block would be very unlikely. More than likely to be a head gasket problem. A decent mechanic shouldn't have any trouble pressure testing each cylinder to diagnose the fault. I'm assuming it's a V8? there are other possible causes also. Cracked head, faulty inlet manifold (v8, if it has water jackets in the manifold). I would have it checked out before assuming it needs a motor.

Recently replaced the fuel pump and Battery. Seem to run really rough, like it's RPM's are high. I drove it about 10 miles, then turned it off , started it up and drove 10 miles back to my house and it ran...

a very common problem with those is that the intake manifold leaks and causes the car to take in more air than what it should resulting in high revs, take it to a garage and get it checked, it should be an easy fix and shouldn't cost alot either.

Oil plug came out didn't realize no oil pressure t

the oil is there to cool and lubricate the crank ( bottom end) and the cam shaft and valves (top end) the most likely out come is that you have (cooked) the engine, check to see if when you try to start dose the engine turn? if it dose then it could be the oil temp switch will need to be replaced. if the engine DOSENT turn then you have most probably welded the pistons to the block. seized the crank shaft or warped the head (head gasket) i hope this helps

Engin light

Out of the blue my light came on to. The code said was running to lean. I did a tune up. Found out it was well over due. New spark plugs and wires gave it much more power and runs smoother, they had been oxidized, fuel filter was needed also. Runs like new now. I did not realize my car was running so pore till i drove it after it had a tune up. Just a single mom's help hope it works.
