Question about Isuzu Trooper

I am working on a 97 trooper with 4x4 and am doing the front brakes including the rotors. I am trying to remove the outer hub in order to get the rotor off and can not figure out what is necassary to get it removed. I have unbolted the 6 bolts that attach the outer hub to the rotor and have the cap and c ring off but there is some sort of a keeper that is split on top and bottom that is holding on a plate around the splined shaft. How does that come off Thank you -Barry

It's probably a nut that has slots milled on the outer diameter of it. You need a special socket that has tangs on it that will slip into those slots. You can probably rent one at your nearest Autozone. They usually make you leave a deposit for their tools, and return the money to you when you return the tool.

just B or B then A off? if you had b off, you'd see what?, a big nut.
that is locked to spindle shaft.
ill guess? wheel bearings are bad? (just in hub not spindle bearings bad... no matter this is first.)
so you do what. ? here are the steps.

that part"B" must be off first, see the bolts holding it, ?
B = auto locking hubs. or hub axle lockers.

  1. "Place the Transfer shift in the 2H position.
  2. Raise and support the front of the vehicle safely on jackstands. (rear tires chocked, and hand brake set hard)
  3. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
  4. Loosen the hub to rotor retainer bolts.
  5. Remove the brake caliper mounting bolts and carefully remove the caliper (along with the brake pads) from the rotor. Do not disconnect the brake line. Secure the caliper out of the way with the flexible line still connected.
  6. Remove the hub nut using hub wrench J-29020-A or equivalent. ( special tool)
  7. Remove the hub cap assembly retainer bolts. Remove the spindle nut, washers, and other components. Remove the hub/rotor, being careful not to drop the outer wheel bearings. As the hub/rotor is pulled forward, the outer wheel bearings will often fall forward.
  8. Once the hub/rotor is removed, remove the retainer bolts securing the rotor and hub together. Inspect the hub and replace if needed."

I want to remove the front brake rotor from my 2000 gmc 4x4 3500. It looks like I have to remove the outer hub used to attach the wheels and also remove the spindle nut. After the 8 nuts and the spindle...


U use an air hammer with a pointy tool in it. Then u drive the lug studs out. The hub and rotor mate using the knurled area of the lug studs.

  1. Remove the hub body assembly from the front disc brake hub and rotor. If the body is difficult to remove, install two capscrews and pull the body assembly out of the front disc brake hub and rotor.

Installation
  1. NOTE: Do not pack the hublock body assembly or cap with grease. Excessive grease can cause excessive dialing effort and hub failure.

    Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
  1. Tighten three Torx® head capscrews to 4-6 Nm (35-53 lb-in).

When buying rotors for a 95 Bronco 4X4 should the rotors be seperate from the hub or should they be attached as one piece? Im getting mixed info from part stores.


The reason you're getting mixed info from parts stores is because it comes both ways.
Look at the following to determine which one you have, 4 wheel disc brakes (floating front rotors) or rear drum brake model (except 4 wheel disc brakes):

  1. Jack up the front of the truck and support it with jackstands. Remove the front wheel.
  2. Remove the caliper assembly and support it on the frame with a piece of wire (or something equally secure) without disconnecting the brake fluid hose.
  3. Remove the hub and rotor assembly.
  4. Install the rotor in the reverse order of removal, and adjust the wheel bearing as outlined in Section 1.
F-Super Duty with 4-Wheel Disc Brakes The hub and rotor are individual pieces, allowing the rotor to be replaced independently. The front and rear rotors are the same and are attached with 10 bolts and washers. The bolts are tightened a little at a time, in a crisscross fashion, to an ultimate torque of 74–89 ft. lbs. Make sure 2- wheel drive is selected.
Jack up the vehicle front and support on axle stands. Remove the wheel.
Remove the brake caliper. It bolts onto the hub carrier(aka knuckle) with 2 bolts from the vehicle side of the carrier so you cant see them without sticking your head into the wheel arch. Slide the caliper off the rotor and hub and hang it with a piece of wire inside the wheel arch. Dont let it hang on the pipe it is connected to. The caliper may be difficult to remove if the rotor has a ridge on its outer edge due to wear.
Remove ABS speed sensor(2 bolts to remove) behind the hub
Next comes the hub assembly. :
  • Shift on the fly:Remove 6 bolts on the cap then the cap itself. Next the snap ring/circlip and the shim behind it.(On the piece of shaft now visible) and then you can pull off the hub flange. Remove the screw on the lock washer and then the washer itself. Remove the hub nut.The hub assembly(with rotor) will now pull off the shaft. Remove inner bearing and oil seal.
  • Manual hub: Select transmission 2H and "Free" on the hub. and run the vehicle about 100 m/300 ft.Remove 6 bolts on the cap then the cap itself. Next the snap ring/circlip and the shim behind it. Remove body assembly.
Remove the bottom ball joint on the hub carrier.(Ball joint removal tool may be needed to free the ball joint. Dont go hammering it. That will damage the thread) Swing the carrier upwards and you should have just enough free space to pull the shaft from the hub carrier. If not remove the top balljoint as well. Remove the clamp/SS strip from the inner CV rubber boot. Pull the boot back on the shaft. Remove the circlip from inside the DOJ case. The shaft can now be pulled from the DOJ case.
Remember to preload the wheel bearing on reassembly. Tighten the hubnut to 29 N.m. then loosen fully. Tighten again by hand. Connect a spring scale to the wheel stud. Pulling on the scale in the direction of rotation should give a reading of 2-2.5 kg/4.4-5.5 lb(new bearing) or 1.2-1.8kg/2.6-4 lb(used bearing) when the rotor starts to move. If it does not, tighten the hub nut a littl and measure again. Repeat till the correct measurement is achieved. See diagram.

How do I change front hub and bearing assembly on 2004 Explorer


Front hub bearing, remove tire, remove caliper and caliper holding bracket, you do not have to remove brake caliper from brake hose, just set it aside, if 4X4 remove front axle nut that goes through center of rotor, also remove brake rotor, disconnect elec, A.B.S connector, remove three bolts on back side of hub bearing, remove hub bearing, some times you will need to knock hub bearing out with a hammer.Reverse to install new hub bearing.

How do you remove front brake rotor on k 3500 4x4 1993


pull tire, remove outer hub (automatic or locking?) usually eight hex screws, behind hub assembly is a "wheel bearing nut" about 2" in diameter, this is just a circle with threads on the inside of it and four notches around the outside of it, the only way to get this out is to get the right "wheel bearing nut socket" from an automotive store, just FYI, it is probably going to be a special order tool. after "wheel bearing nut" is off the rotor will come off along with the wheel bearings, while you are in there these should probably be replaced also

Removing the front brake rotor from the hub housing


You need to take the rotor/hub off the spindle.So you'll need to remove the wheel bearings in order for it to come off. Once off theres bolts in the back of the rotors bolted to the hub.

How to remove rotors on 97 dodge 2500 4x4


sounds like the rotor is stuck on the hub. Try beating it with a hammer you dont have to take the 4 bolts off they remove the wheel bearing. Axle doesn't have to be touched as well. After you remove the caliper and bracket the rotor should fall off.
