Question about 2005 Ford Five Hundred

1 Answer

I crossed my jumper cables on 1992 LeBaron. Now my headlights and radio won't turn on. I checked the fuses and they're fine. My mechanic said ois might be the Body Control Module. We ordered a used one and it didnt fix the problem. It could have been a bad BMC on not the problem at all and I don't know how to chck if the BCM. Any ideas?

Why would a professional mechanic ,say what it might
be,then order something,based on nothing?

You always start with a wiring diagram
You check what does work
At some point in your testing, you will find
the problem

You only replace parts when your TESTING
PROVES a part failed

I installed jumper cables incorrectly and now car won't start

First of all, you are very lucky you didn't blow yourself up.

Crossing jumper cables can destroy radios, amps, blow fuses and in extreme cases even ruin an alternator, or worse, your car's EFI or PCM (although they are usually protected with a relay that opens if reverse current is applied to it). Not mention you can blow up your battery. You need to get it to a mechanic before you cause any more explosions.

Cross connected jumper cables on 199 corolla. Car now turns but will not start

Now you check all fuses, all fusible links

After that, your going to need to ask for help or look
at a wiring diagram to see what you did not check

My 1990 mercury grand marquis was boosted wrong

Might need to check the main circuits for a blown fuse or fuseable link.
There is a fuse wire between the alternator and battery.

I have a 93 geo prizm that has no dash or interior headlights and will not turn over. My headlights work, however. I left my keys in it, but I'm not sure if it was on or using any juice. I went

You may have damaged the vehicle's ECU, or electrical circuits. Check all fuses and main fuses. Crossing the jumper leads can have very serious consequences.

No power to RADIO

There should be two fuses - one for the memory and one for the radio power. Check the book and see if there is a second fuse - let me know if you can't find it.
