If it is leaking between the filter and the base, check to make sure the gasket or rubber ring of the old filter did not stay in place when you removed it.

I have a 1993 Honda del sol,my oil filter leaks no matter what kind i put on and how tight it is.

I am sure you are positive that nothing is leaking somewhere else making you think it is coming from the oil filter ...In most cases it is the oil sending unit leaking near or around it...The oil sending unit looks like an electrical plug with wires attached to it ....However it only takes one grain of sand to make an oil filter leak...Does it leak as soon as you put it on..?..Does it only leak when it gets hot.?..Do you always clean the oil from filter area that comes from old filter when removed..Sometimes oil gets trapped in the frame under vehicle and makes you think it is leaking..It normally takes the oil a long time to finally leave the frame area if trapped considering some frame designs and small lips and curves of suspension..I would recommend after removing old filter USE SAFETY GLASSES AND BREATHING MASK..clean all around it with starting fluid ...,it will dry off quickly"Wipe everything around it to a clean shine..let it dry completely..use a good flashlight and closely examine filter stud threads at filter sure base and threads are very clean...Don't forget to lube rubber seal on new filter before installing it..DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN..THIS WILL DAMAGE THREADS..get safety glasses and breathing mask ...It would be a good idea to raise front of car and place on sturdy Jack stands ..Don't forget to set Emerg.brake and block wheels for safety..If there is no doubt it is the filter The threaded stud that filter fits on could be partially stripped will make you think it is on tight but it will actually be on slightly offset from filter base...

I have a 1996 Town Car Signature Series 4.6L V8 engine. I changed my oil the other day and I might have messed up the threading on the oil filter mount insert nipple (the part that the oil filter screws...

If the oil filter base threads are messed up there isn't much you can do, I think the best you can do is to buy an used oil filter base or a new one. Trying to fix it is a terrible idea cause your'e going to spend a lot of time and money and still you are not gonna be sure if ot's gonna leak engine oil. The oil filter base only have 3 or 4 bolts, it's very easy to remove.

Oil leak from oil filter i thimk or its from very close to the filter

Your leak could be the result of a missing oil filter gasket or an improperly sealed oil filter gasket. Remove and inspect. either way, the fix should be easy.

Oil leak at the oil filter base of 96 Honda Accord V-6

Nope, just replace the oil filter. The filter may be loose or if the oil filter was placed without oil on the O-ring before installation will cause the O-rings to fail. If the car is due for an oil change, might as well service the engine and replace the oil and filter. Good luck and hope it's not the oil pressure sensor which will leak when it fails too and it's most of the time located by the oil filter area in most cars.

I have a real bad oil leak coming from what seems like a place by the oil filter which is in front of the engine on a 2000 chevy impala

The oil leak will be coming from either the oil filter base or the gasket that the base of the filter called O ring or the front seal so wash it down in car wash and start run and gheck for the correct cause befor letting me know . Ron
