Machine is on my sunfire pontiac 1998 and gives me the code 300. what would that be??

P0300: random multiple cylinder misfire

How long has it been since this car has had a tune up? Any other driving symptoms? This usually indicates one of a few things, worn spark plugs, clogged fuel/air filter, or vacuum leak.

My 98 Sunfire is idling very rough. How do I check if it's a miss fire or something else. just recently replaced fuel filter and plugs

did you just replace the plugs or replace ignition wires, rotor, and cap (or) ignition coils if applicable? and you check whether its fuel or spark problem by running the engine and taking the plug wire off the spark plug and seeing if there is spark and noting any change in the engine, if the engine runs rough(er) or stalls then you know there is no problem spark related with that cylender, if no change occours when you take the plug wire off the plug then you know there is either a no spark condition (you will be able to see if this is the case) or if there is spark and it is a fuel problem. self explanatory, if everything you test for passes then you probably have internal engine damage. recommended that you use rubber grip pliers when you take the plug wires off while the engine is running, do not ground yourself. Hope this helps! Joseph.

1998 pontiac sunfire convertibe. when car is warm it misses alot as(seems like the tranny shifts hard into gear. only noticable when car needs to shift the auto gears. i find the fluid fill, but can not...

Check for vacuum leaks. Fuel filter clogged? Check spark plug wires and make sure spark plugs are gapped correctly. Get fuel injection cleaned.

How to change spark plugs in a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire GT

Dear Angel Divine, First determine whether you have a 4cyl. or V6 engine, then look at the engine bank/banks for the exhaust manifold and then the intake manifold, The plugs will be either be between the 2 manifolds(center of cylinder head) or between the exhaust manifold tubes. Call me back if you still have trouble. quicbric(volvo man)
