I have a cirrus with a 2.4 engine that stalls. You have to stop and put the car in park turn key off wait for about thirty seconds and the car will restart. I f you do not turn key off and leave it in on...

> If you do not turn key off and leave it in on position when the car stalled it will not start.
I have three vehicles that all are built this way; that action is a safety feature. The problem you have is with the stalling, not the cycling of the ignition switch.
Have the computer scanned; check with any local chain auto parts store in your area to ensure that they offer the service free of charge but all I know do.
There are a number of reasons for the engine to stall:
- Fuel pump - A relay going intermittant - Ignition switch itself failing - Coil pack (ignition coil) failing
Some of these problems should show up as an error code in your car's computer.

Volkswagen lt 2.8 cut down on the road, when i restart works

If it sputters to a stop, then I would suspect fuel delivery problems, If it stops abruptly, then likely loss of ignition power (fuse?) or loss of the crank or cam sensor signals. You need to have a code reader attached while driving, that records intermittent faults, to track this one down. It could also be the computer itself!

Engine stalls

Seems like the idle position sensor. Take your car to get a trouble code at most auto parts stores for free. Autozone, kragen's , Checker auto etc. They will give you a code of the possibilites of the problem. Not what the actual problem is.It is called an OBII code.Post the code and we can find out.

Check Engine Light is on. Pops O2 sensor but car is acting funny.

This sounds like the loss of electrical power because of the lights.Any chance of a broken engine/transmission mount allowing to much movement and breaking a connection? Along this same line, look for a vacuum leak that occurs while in gear. If the o2 sensor code is for a lean condition a vacuum leak could case it and the drivability condition /stalling you are getting. Hope this helps and rate me please!!
