I over filled the coolant of my 2002 Toyota rav4 and when I started it it run ok but when I was already on the road the temperature gauge went from normal to overheat. I drained the excess coolant but when...

It isn't really possible to overfill with coolant so harm harm occurs. If your coolant jacket and radiator are full, that is normal, and if the coolant overflow reservoir then becomes full as well, the excess just runs out on the ground.

The symptoms lead me to think that when you refilled, a bubble formed in the system. This may be in the heater core, preventing any hot coolant circulating there.

Try parking nose up on a very steep hill, with the heater tap full open, and run the engine until it is at normal temperature. Then if the engines overheats again, we suspect a faulty thermostat stuck closed.

sounds like the alternator is going bad. I had the same problem in a 94' Ford Probe. I replaced the alternator and it ran perfect. Hope this helps

Elanta does not overheat, but the heat only works while driving down the road. At idle the heat is no more than a luke warm vent.

check the thermostat on it probably it is not the right specs and does not alow the car to heat to proper temperature

Overheating

Your clutch fan sounds like the problem.

Overheating- smaller fan is fried would this cause it to overheat

Is it an hour idling? If you are overheating going down the road, this is either a thermostat, or a plugged radiator. The fan will contribute to overheating sitting still.
