SOURCE: need to set timing marks on a 1986 plymouth reliant

To save some time I'll guess and say it's the SOHC.
1). Make sure the #1 piston is on the compression stroke @ Top Dead Center. You can find the compression stroke by pulling the #1 spark plug and putting your finger over the hole, while a friend bumps the engine. When you feel air come out of the plug hole, your on the compression stroke. Then point the rotor to #1 on the cap, by turning the crankshaft by hand. Then do the timing marks.........
2). The camshaft gear: There should be four large holes and one small hole, the small hole should face perfectly straight up. You can use 2 of the larger holes, one on the left and one on the right from the camshaft attaching bolt, to help line it up correctly. By looking through them, horizontally line them up with the head.
3). The crankshaft gear and the intermediate shaft gear should have a dimple on one of their teeth. Face them to each other.
4). Make sure nothing moves, when installing the belt.
5). Fire it up, before you put everything back together. When it fires, let it run for about 30 seconds to let the belt align itself. Then check all your marks again, to make sure nothing moved.
6). Put it back together.
7). I sincerely hope that this information helped you to get r dun. Best wishes and God Bless.

SOURCE: location of oxygen sensor

I believe you may have three (3) O2 sensor, (2) of the sensor is on ether side of the exhaust down pipe and some times called up stream O2 sensor, the third O2 sensor know to some as the down stream O2 and is after the Catalytic converter.
The up stream O2 monitors the left and right side banks and sends signals to the ECM to make the adjustments to the injectors to keep the proper air/fuel ratio.
The down stream O2 monitors the catalytic converter and sends signal to the ECM if the catalytic converter has gone bad.
Good luck and hope this helps. If you get it scanned at Auto Zone, they should be able to let you know which O2 has gone bad so as to not change all three. You could always check the wire harness to the down stream O2 for corrosion. Keep me posted

87 Plymouth reliant trouble codes 12 22 24 26 52? Came to the conclusion it is the computer causing all these problems how do I get the computer programed to this car?

If you could find a salvage yard car with same year/engine/trans you might just swap ECU. These units seldom fail, but it does happen. First insure ECU is properly mounted and grounded--same for engine.

Anyone know where the knock sensor is located on a 88 Plymouth reliant 2.2

Knock sensors senses the knock from the coolant that surrounds the combustion chambers. The knocking sound sends pulses through the water to the sensor. Same as the sound of a fire arm pulses the air to reach your ear.Look for them on what is called the water jacket. (block).
