Question about 2004 Toyota Sienna

Change headlight on 2004 toyota sienna Got the bulb There's no way to go at it from inside the hood? I removed the round black gasket cup but that doesn't get me at the bulb. Do i have to take the bumper off? Really? So I removed the 2 phillips screws on top of assembly. Afraid to pry off the lens from the body since it looks like there's glue keeping it together.

Bam! perfect. Except the locking spring had no screw, both side of clamp/lock were spring loaded. THANKS!! And to think i was about to take the front bumper off like wiki advised!!

  • scott thompson Mar 16, 2011

NO !! The bumper does NOT have to be taken out. Just clarifying in case others read your solution and think they need to take the bumper off

After buying 2 bulbs, thinking i'd got a bad one, i switched the working (right) bulb into the non-working (left) headlamp. It didn't work. Point is, i've got a good bulb in the left headlight and it won't come on. SO, i tried the type-A fuses 3,4, and 6 and 21, and 22. I even switched them to make sure. The left headlamp still won't come on.
    What next??

  1. 1

Release the hood latch and open the hood. Locate the headlight bulb that's out. This may be a good time to check all of your front lights and rears, too. Make sure to turn off the lights before you replace any.

  2. 2

Unplug the wire harness from the back of the headlight bulb.

  3. 3

Remove the rubber gasket protector cover the back of the headlight. This simply pulls off, and there's a marking stamped on it that indicates the top of it when you're ready to replace it.

  4. 4

Locate the locking spring on the back of the headlight. This is the tricky part--trying to get your head down in there to see which side it locks on. One side has a press-in lock on the spring, and the other side is hinged by a screw. Press the spring inward and upward to release it, then swing it back on the hinge to remove the old bulb.

  5. 5

Remove the old bulb and install the new one. There is only one way to insert the new bulb into the headlight assembly cavity correctly. Be sure to line it up properly. Also, do not touch the glass of the new bulb with your fingers. Halogen bulbs can be compromised or damaged altogether by oils and alkaline in your skin.

  6. 6

Replace the locking spring by pressing inward and downward to clip it onto the lock. Again, this may seem tedious, but it's actually harder to lock the spring than unlock it.

  7. 7

Replace the rubber gasket protector correctly. Press it inward all around to make sure it is sealed properly.

  8. 8

Plug the wire harness back into the headlight.

  9. 9

Turn on the lights and test the new bulb.

Yes it can be replaced without taking bumper off,but if bumper taken off,it gives more room.As its time consuming if bumper taken off,but it actually gives more space. But you are right, as just to replace the light, its actually not needed to take the bumper off and go with long procedure. Thanks for the updated.Thanks.Helpmech.

Can the headlight assembly of a 2004 Toyota Sienna be disassembled to replace a faulty low beam bulb?

The whole bulb will have to be replaced. One bulb has high/low beam. You should be able to access it from behind the light assembly. You should have a locking device at the headlight assembly and be able to pull the assembly out to make it easier.

How do I replace a 2004 toyota sienna headlight? The bulb I bought at the Napa parts store doesn't seem to fit in properly.

The bulb has to be lined up in the headlamp housing before it will fit properly,is it a 80 dollar bulb?or 8 to 15 dollar bulb?the 9006 bulb, the cheaper one has to be aligned just right,or it will not fit,and it can be difficult to do,but the 80 dollar bulb, just fits one way only.

Toyota Sienna 2004 Headlight Problem

If you have the HID bulbs, and there is moisture in the bottom of the assembly, the high voltage box at the bottom will not work. this requires removing the whole headlamp, removing the circuit board from the bottom and drying out. I have done mine twice before finally finding how water was getting in at the top seam of the lamp assembly. You will have to dis-assemble part of the wheel well and bumper cover to gain access to all the mounting bolts. Best of luck

How do I replace a headlight bulb for a 2004 chevy malibu classic?

Change headlights in 2004 Chevy Malibu Classic
Open the hood and pull up on the two black tabs on either side of the lamp assembly. Pull the lamp assembly forward gently and unclip the wiring harness. Twist the socket counter-clockwise and remove it. The bulb should be removed by wiggling it.
Install new bulb in its place and turn the socket back into place. Reconnect the wiring harness and return the lamp to its original position. Line up the holes in the lamp assembly to the round ends of the mounting pins, and press down on the two black tabs to hook the lamp assembly into place.

Replacing my headlight bulb in my kia amanit 2004

  1. Open the hood of your KIA Amanti and look behind the headlight that has gone out. Locate the round knob on the back of the headlight.
  2. Turn the knob counterclockwise 1/4 of a turn and gently remove it from the back of the headlight. Carefully remove the electrical cable within the headlight housing that is attached to the back of the headlight bulb.
  3. Locate the metal clip that holds the light bulb in place by pushing the clip arm straight in and sliding it down. Remove the bulb from the headlight housing.
  4. Replace the old headlight bulb with new bulb. Secure it by sliding the metal clip up to hold the bulb in place. Reattach the electrical cable and replace the round knob to the back of the headlight housing.
  5. Turn on the headlights to verify that they are in working order.

How to replace headlights without breaking assembly.

You are supposed to remove the front bumper to take the headlight out.

However if you remove the vertical philips/10mm bolt at the far back edge of the bumper and a few of the upper 10mm bolts on the bumper cover, you can pull the bumper down far enough to access the one hidden bolt on the side of the headlight.
Just be careful you do not damage the paint when doing so.

I had moistured on my 2004 sienna headlight, How can i removed the moistured?

I fixed this problem on my 2004 Sienna. The moisture seems to come in from the top of the headlamp assembly. I generously applied Permatex Super Clear VINYL SEALANT to the seam at the top of the assembly after drying out the moisture by remvoing the bulbs. There are vent at the bottom of the assembly which should be open; there's a liitle foam plug that let's air in so the assembly is not intended to be airtight. There has been no moisture problem for about a year.
