Question about 2007 Mercedes-Benz SLK350 Roadster Convertible

Open Question

Hi My 2 problems for my SLK 350 (R171): 1 - The roof appears to let air (and some water) get inside the car especially at reasonably high speed, just above the driver's head, and at the back junction of the passenger window. As the roof cracks sometimes when driving on bad roads I think it moves a little, and maybe should be checked or tightened in some way? The car is only 25000 miles is that normal? 2 - I think I found the fuse box inside the engine compartment but I have no notice or drawing to let me know their individual use! And, is there another fuse box somewhere? Thank you very much for help

This symptom almost always points to a lubrication issue. The SLK hardtop is notorious for needing to belubricated every couple of years. Here is a link with directions andphotos:

By having it scanned and cleared with an OBD tool. This light comes on when it detects a problem. Could be a bad gas cap, or it could be a misfiring engine. The code you get from having it scanned will pinpoint the trouble area

Electric windows are fine the roof gets half way

If the top is half way down that means that the trunk is open and should be touching the trunk switch to continue the process. The switch must be bad and it is inside the rear right fender close the the stop light

Get a can of WD 40 spray lubricant at any auto parts store and carefully lubricate all of the moving parts of the roof system. This will likely solve your problem.

My 1999 slk merecedes convertible top will not go down sometimes or come up.

This symptom almost always points to a mechanical issue, not an electrical one. The SLK hardtop is notorious for needing to be lubricated every couple of years. Here is a link with directions and photos:

Sticking joints are the most common culprit to intermittent raising and lowering problems. Once those have been lubricated and that has been checked off the list, then look into electrical issues.

Window module and going up too high

I had the same problem. The window goes up to high because a L shaped bracket has come off the window. This bracket basically restricts the height of the window. Take the door panel off retrive the bracket that is roaming free inside your door and glue back on.There are 2 brackets both glued to the window.one sits on the outside of the window the other ontop of that but inside.Use a strong glue otherwise it will keep happening. To anwer the first point the window is not supposed to go down.
