You might want to get all that checked out soon. The grease might be left over from a lube job. But the POP noise, you may have broke a hub or something. If it doesn't make a noise or doesn't wobble, it is not that serious. Make sure the front end is not making any weird or unusuall noises.
Sounds like you are leaking brake fluid. The grinding sound may be from the brake pad not disengaing from the rotor because of low brake fluid pressure. Have this checked immediatley you may loose all brake function!!
I had the same sound that you mentioned. I found it to be the roof rack sliding backwards. Tightened it and the noise went away. Occasionally, it will make the same noise, depending on the wind, but I have always found it to be stopped by tightening the roof rack. Hope this helps.
