Get it to a garage - if the clutch has worn out - 9 years old and its quite possible - you don't want to have to have a new gearbox as well.

Me and a mate have been trying to bleed my clutch on my 80 series for 5 hrs and carnt get anywhere. What the hell am I doing wrong? I can do everythingt else other then 1 of the simplist job


Just follow the procedure in the right order. Fill the clutch reservoir on the master cylinder to the max and leave the lid loose. Fit a transparent plastic pipe on the bleed nipple on the clutch slave cylinder bleed nipple. Put the other end of the pipe into a jar to catch the waste fluid. Put some thick grease around the base threads of the bleed nipple, this stops air being sucked in via the threads whne the nipple is slackened off. Loosen the bleed nipple by 1/3 of a turn. Have your mate slowly depress the clutch peddle. When he has reached maximum travel have him hold it there while you turn the bleed nipple a third turn back to tight. Have your mate release the clutch peddle, clutch fluid from the master reservoir should now fill the the master cylinder. Have you mate press the peddle a quarter way and then release the bleed nipple a 1/3 of a turn. Have your mate depress the clutch peddle all the way to maximum travel. Again tighten off the bleed nipple before releasing the clutch peddle. Keep doing this process until no more air bubbles can be seen in the fluid in the pipe attached to the bled nipple. Every four cycles or so check on the fluid level in the master reservoir and keep topped up with fresh fluid. When everything completed tighten the bleed nipple, it is not necessary to tighten the hell out of it as at some point you may need to do this again. Wipe everything down pump the clutch peddle a few times to be sure of correct operation and no leaks.

Fiesta started making noises either gearbox or clutch? clunks going in to reverse, shudders driving off in 1st gear


sounds like your clutch is going out, is it hard to put in gear with clutch all the way depressed? could also be the sinkronyzer going out, could be the gears in the transmission also going bad. need to check the fluid in the transmission.

Loud whine then knock in overdrive


well, without hearing the noise myself, i could guess that the torque converter clutch might be going bad. the torque converter is the part that transfers the power from the engine to the transmission via viscous fluid motion, the converter also has a clutch that internally provides a direct connection inside the converter for better fuel economy. but as with anything labeled as a clutch, it wears down to a point where is slips. the noise your hear could be the torque converter clutch slipping. i owned a 90 astro van with the same drivetrain that made a noise similar to what you speak of up hills. while driving up hills, fully depress the accelerator and if the clunking noise occurs, then the whine goes away as you accelerate faster in a lower gear, very likely this is the case. you would have to have a transmission shop diagnose further. i drove that old van for five more years cause i didn't want to pay to have transmission repaired. it can be very expensive.

Hard to shift into first gear


Tighten clutch cable until the car would start to move when the clutch peddle is 50% depressed, Before you do that, with the clutch fully depressed and in 2nd gear, start the car and slowly let off the clutch. You may find that the clutch has to be released virtually all the way before the car moves. It should be at about that 50% I spoke about

The gear grinds soemtimes and it is hard at time


you will need the clutch checked over. the clutch hydraulic system is first to check. check fluid level, if its low, top it off with brake fluid, and find where its leaking. if the fluid is full, make sure the pedal feels normal.if its in the hydraulic system, the trans doesnt have to come out, but a clutch replacement it will....... does the clutch slip? if so it will need replacement. if noisy only when depressing the pedal, the throwout bearing, or pilot bearing may be bad, and clutch replacement will be needed. be sure to have the flywheel resurfaced and replace the rear main oil seal while the flywheel is off.

Clutch Whine on Toyota 4WD Pickup


Bad bearings. Perhaps a throw out bearing. The pressure on it varies depending on whether your pushing on the pedal or not, and how much. If the noise occured only when the truck is moving, then I would say it is the input bearing. Changed alot of those years ago.

hi these boxes tended to be a bit noisey anyway but a simple test for the release bearing and first motion shaft is easy first make sure g/box oil level is ok
start engine ,take your foot off the clutch peddle compleatly you have a whine, put your foot on the peddleVERYlightlynoise should change ,if the noise is more of a rattle than a whine it is coming from the clutch release bearing if it a definate whine it is either the spigot bearing in the flywheel or the first motion shaft
