Your on the right track it most likely is the water pump, the pump is behind the timing cover on the 3.0L V6 you have to remove the cover and the timing belt in order to replace the pump....HAVE FUN

Water pump

All three of these engines a timing belt driven which means the water pump is also timing belt driven. The water pump is located behind the timing belt covers on the front of all three engines. The timing belt has to be removed in order to service the water pump. Yes coolant can leak out the pump when it is bad.

water pump is where serpentine belt is at front of engine, coolant leak could be your intake manifold gaskets, engine is prone for intake gaskets to leak.

Water pump

The most common source of a coolant leak on any engine is by far the water pumps front seal. If you get under the engine you should be able to see the white stains from the dried coolant leading towards the water pump, you can also touch under the front of the water pump and see if it is wet with coolant. Please rate my help for Fixya. Thanks

My friend's 04 Denali 6L is leaking coolant. I

probably the water pump. front and center of the engine, the pulley that may or may not have the cooling fan attached. from under the truck a leaking water pump usually leaves some coolant residue on the timing cover and at the front of the oil pan where the wiring harness come across.

No heat---replace thermostat and gasket,(it is stuck open)
Water pump--- is leaking, replace, why do you care where it comes from,it is the hole by the bearings
Heater Hoses---Replace
Remove and clean out coolant tank

I have a 1998 jeep cherokee classic with 4 litre 6 it just developed a coolant leak in the front center of the engine pulley for water pump has a little play in it and i cant tell if its the water pump...

It sounds like your water pump is going out. Water pumps have a weep hole on them and when the seal is going out it will start leaking. Also you shouldn't have any play on the pulley.

My 2006 charger 3.5 is leaking coolant but only somtimes is it a sign of water pump malfunction no indications on the gauges but car seems to be running hot

this is most likely the water pump if it is leaking at front of engine, the water pump is under the large timing belt cover and driven by the timing belt, so both are changed at the same time.

Dodge 2000 minivan,water pump leaking

Make sure it's cool, pop the radiator cap, Remove the shield on the passenger side between the tire and front of engine. Relieve the tension on the serp belt, draw yourself a diagram of the pulleys and belt routing in case the sticker is gone on the strut tower, remove the serp belt. Take the bolts out of the pulley on the front of the water pump (3). Remove the lower radiator hose at the front cover to drain the coolant. Remove the 6 mm bolts holding the water pump to the front cover housing. tap on the pump with a rubber hammer. Install a new gasket on the new pump, and a weap hole diverter in the pump (round black about hte size of a quarter), use old one if there's no new one. Install pupm and tighten bolts snug with a 1/4" ratchet. Install pulley and 3 bolts. Install belt, top off radiator with 50/50 mix green coolant. start engine and run to operating temperature, make sure the belt is seated in all of the pulleys and is running true, radiator fans should come on. Shut engine down and let cool overnight. Check level in radiator and overflow bottle, top off as necessary.
