My Chrysler 300C 2005 will not shift out of park and we pushed the pink tab and tried and it didn't work. What can we do about this. The book doesn't give us any other option. Do you have a suggestion?

I had the same thing happen and the pink tab did not work for me either. Search the this issue on the website 300forumz. There is a detailed step by step with pictures on how to fix the issue. there a small plastic piece with an eyelet that broke and the tension spring came off. YOu will need to drill a new hole adn attach the spring into the new hole. It will be better then new.

2006 chrysler 300 wont shift back into park

The shift interlock device is broken in the shifter. If you can take the bezel off around the shifter you will see it. It is a pink plastic piece that allows you to shift in or out of park. They ALWAYS break on these cars. The dealer will replace your whole shifter. But you can just replace the pink interlock device.

Trying to locate the gear shift release button in my chrysler 300

The shifter has two problems that does not let you go out of park, either you push the overide pink button thats on the right interior edge of shifter that releases it... If that doesnt work its another pink pin in front of the shifter, you would have to take shifter console apart to get to it and release it. This is usually the problem.

Good luck, I hope this helps.

My gear shift on my 2007 Chrysler 300C is stuck in park. I applied the brake and am still unable to shift into drive.

Hi,DO NOT GET AND PAY FOR A TOW TRUCK Inside the shifter a locking arm has the tab broken off which holds the spring. Quick on the spot fix is to undo the two screws under the rubber cover above shifter follow the cable on the left hand side to the connector and apply pressure at the same time you shift. Long term fix no cost at all, remove shifter open and you will see the problem with the spring. The tab breaks of the side and all you need to do is PRE DRILL a hole in the top of the rocker for a self tapper screw to hold the spring, reassemble fixed

Chrysler sebring is locked in park

Had this happen to me yesterday.  Remove the liner in the cup holder.  There is a hole that you can stick your finger in to push the gear release lever forward.  If that does not work, pull up the chrome bezel around the gear shift.  there is a pink piece of plastic attached to a spring, push that down and towards the rear of the car and you should be able to shift freely until you put it in park again.  Make sure the car is running and your foot is on the brake while trying either solution.

Chrysler 300c '06 can't get it out of park

This is a very common problem on the Chrysler LX Platform vehicles from 2005 - 2007. It's a broken Park Lock-Out Mechanism made from cheap plastic. Chrysler will only replace the whole shifter because they don't make just the part you need and it will cost you some bucks if you are out of warranty.

There is a way to over-ride the Lockout and you can purchase just the replacement piece from the only company that makes them in 100% aluminum Go to or and search for "pink thingy" or park lock-out mechanism. Tons of information as well as DIY threads with pictures and even YouTube demos.
