If your talking about one of the big thick relay fusses under the hood then take a pair of needle nose pliers and pull straight up it will probably require some force but it will come out. There should be a puller in the curicuit panel where the green relay is located and a smoll puller for the fusses under the dash. Good Luck!!!

1995 Mercury Grand Marquis blowing 40 amp fuse as soon as I turn on ignition

It will help if you can identify the 40 Amp fuse that is being toasted when the key is turned.

I looked briefly at a fusebox diagram and found 3 circuits protected by a 40 Amp fuse. The Lamp circuit protects several circuits which have smaller rated fuses on each separate wire. The 40 Amp protection seems to be a safeguard if all the smaller circuits are active in total. Turning off the automatic headlights, should reduce power drain.

The next circuit is the Rear window defroster. Can easily pull 40 Amps, but once the 40 Amp fuse breaks, it should have no effect on the engine.

The last circuit, on the cars with Trailer Tow or Police package has a
40 Amp fuse on the Battery charge Relay. This is a remote possibility. But the engine should be able to run without an Alternator for several minutes using Battery power.

Have them check the fuel pressure. The Inertia switch could have tripped while the car was being repaired. It does not explain the wiring short, but can explain the no start condition.

Again, if the same 40 Amp circuit is overloading, identify the circuit with the fuse box diagram.

I replaced the resistor box and 2 green and one blue wire. all i got was a spark no blower and a blown 40 amp fuse help 2000 jeep grand cherokee limited

Either something was mis-wired, or you have a shorted blower motor or a cut in the wire insulation that is shorting to ground. I'm amazed that a 40 Amp fuse is used for the blower motor - that is a lot of current for a motor that size. (13.6 Volts times 40 Amps is 544 Watts for a fan?! There must be some other stuff on that circuit or somebody put in an oversized fuse.)

Start pulling fuses, one at a time, with an AMP meter in series with a battery cable. When you find anything over a few Mili Amps still on,you found the item, assuming every system has timed out. Some may take 15 min to do so. 40 Mili Amp will always be there, to power memory, clock, etc.

Go to the library and get the motors manual for your year, make and model. Look in the electrical section for this circuit. That will guide you to find the device that is running and killing your battery ... 40 amps is a big circuit in an auto.
