If your car does not get hot you may have an electrical problem in the dashboard. It cuold be the gauge or the panel voltage regulator. Make sure that the engine isn't running hot.

I have a 95 BMW 740iL it starts great but after 30 minutes of running I Cut the car off and try to restart it but it will not start. had the Car diagnosed And The coolant temperature sensor came up

it is possible that a faulty coolant temperature sensor is inhibiting the ignition system by telling the ecm that the engine is too hot to start and that is bringing in the immobiliser operation
best thing to do is to replace what the codes reported as faulty then rerun the codes to reset and see if there are any other faults.

I got a PO128 reading I changed the theromstat but the engine light is still on what can I do to get the light off

When the Check Engine light comes on,you need to clear the code, either use a scan tool to clear the code or you can use 3 consecutive ignition cycle, that the diagnostic runs and not fails, Or A history of 40 consecutive warm up cycles if no failure are reported by this or any other emission relateddiagnostic, If the relacement thermostat and you cleared the close and this code appears You need to inspect the ECT sensor or even the ECT harness

Renault master went into garage for routine cam belt change 2 weeks ago. Replacement was initially done without using the kit, taken for 2 mile test drive and conked out outside the garage. now just runs...

Sing up full member with the AA first call for inspection on the spot and given you full written Report this document make a copy only and give to him .Notes don't give the original tell them what his dun on your car after the Report.good luck.

It hesitate to start up in cold weather i have to give a pump of

There is a cold start valve srpay extra fuel at the start to assist the start in the cold weather. If it is not open during the start then this is why there is a problem. This valve is operated by an electric coil. Even checking the resistance reading, but the valve is still not opening due to being stuck. Power is only coming to the valve during the start and the temperature is cold reported by the coolant temperature sensor . If the coolant temperature sensor is bad reporting warm temperature then the valve will not open. The temp sensor is less expensive than the valve, so it is an economical way to tackle the sensor first. Good luck.

Service Engine soon light on - diagnostic code says o2 sensor. What is an O2 sensor and is it hard to replace

You'll need to give us the specific code, in the format P0xxx. Just saying "O2 sensor" doesn't mean anything. It could be the heater circuit, fuse, o2 sensor itself, etc. Changing an O2 sensor isn't too hard but you may not need to replace it/them.

Please report back with the code or look it up at http://www.check-engine-light.com

HAVE YOUR CAR HOOKED UP TO A DIAGNOSTIC SCANNER THAT WILL SHOW CAR TEMPERATURE. IT WILL TELL YOU CAR COOLANT TEMPERATURE MAKING SURE ENGINE NOT OVERHEATING.AND IT WILL TELL YOU IF YOU HAVE A BAD VECHICLE SENSOR.THAT WAY YOU WILL KNOW IF BOTH GAUGES IS FAULTY.OR WIRING PROBLEMS.

98 Dopdge Caravan won't start when temperature around freezing . When outside temperature rises one or two degrees it will start on first try

The coolant temperature sensor will report the engine temperature to ECM so it can send signal to open the cold start valve. If the sensor is not reporting correct temperature, the ECM won't tell the cold start valve to open for extra fuel to start hence the car is not start. Replace the coolant temperature sensor will take care of the symptom.

Hi there my 1998 hyundai excel has been giving me problems lately. once or twice a week after using the car alot during the day it just wont start for at least 30 mins to 1 hr. Ive had the cam shaft sensor...

I had a similar problem with my 1995 Sonata... turns out, the coolant temperature sensor had gone bad and was telling the ECU (Engine Control Unit) that the engine coolant temperature was at minus (-) 40 degrees. The ECU then INCREASED the fuel to air ratio and the engine wouldn't start because the ACTUAL temperature was like 195 degrees F. - same as flooding the engine with excess fuel. There's also a MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor which could be malfunctioning (telling the ECU that LESS air is coming in than ACTUALLY is .. OR the REVERSE). It seems to me your hyundai mechanic (supposidly TECHNICIAN) isn't a technician/mechanic at all.... sorry,, forgive me. I'm a 'PLATINUM' certified Hyundai Tech... The diagnostic procedure for solving your problem is exact and precise... he/she doesn't know what he/she is doing. Oh, there's also a possibility the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) may be contributing to the problem. The 30 mins to 1 hr delay points to the coolant temp sensor.
