I had a problem with a buddies mustang today. already had to put on a new starter because the kid I had do the wiring didn't put the relay wiring on right. is there any way I can get you to e-mail me a picture of your relay so I can wire this one right. if you can, my e-mail is email@example.com. any help is greatly appreciated.

its not a relay problem if the starter is clicking it is a resistance problem check voltage on the big supply wire and on the small signal wire if either is lower than battery voltage start moving back on wire untill battery voltage is present, repair as necessary
If the engine cranks over but wont start, the Hondas in that year range have a pretty good size relay under the drivers side of the dash, its about 1 1/2" by 2 1/2'
you can replace it or just take the cover off and if you look at the solder contacts very closely you will see one or two that have a crack around them.
just put a couple of drops of solder on them to fix the bad connection and you will be on your way. literally takes about 10 minutes start to finish
The firing order and spark plug wiring layout is depicted in over-the-counter repair manuals like the Haynes for '87-93 Ford Mustangs. If you can't spend the ~$20 on one of those (available at Pep Boys, Autozone, eBay, Amazon, etc) you should be able to check one out from your local library.
sounds like ur ignition barrell wiring switch (inside the car where u put the key in, theres a wiring block on the other side behind the cowelling). dont know much about mustangs to be fair, if theres a relay relating to the starter/ignition it may be worth checking out. hope this helps
do u have spark? also the switch may be the cause of that as well, the switch is located at the bottom of the steering column near the top of the column, here is a picture, it is very cheap to buy, the two halves of the switch separate and cause the loss of electrical to the car.

This may help.A relay is just a switch that's used to isolate a control circuits power source from the device's that it's being used to switch.On motor vehicles the relay is genarally grounded to the chassis and all you need to supply is a positive lead to turn it on.Here's a quick schematic,The negative is to the chassis,the positive leads need to be kept on separate circuits,but note the relay can switch either direction.
Given the steps you have taken, only one of two things this can be is a resistive connection between the battery and the starter solenoid terminal. Or the battery itself has a bad internal connection. Bear in mind: you cannot crank the engine through the average set of jumper cables unless the battery in the dead vehicle will hold and deliver a good charge. Jumper cables are not really intended to start the car, they are for boosting the good, but low battery in the car being jumped.
when you turn the key to crank the engine can you hear a click each time you turn the key. If you can hear it that is your starter solenoid. It is suppose to connect the battery to the starter motor. speak pf coincidence I had that exact same problem with my 94 F150 today. On the way home I stopped and bought a new starter, (which by the way comes with a new solenoid already attached to the starter motor). If you can hear the click I'd say your starter is bad. If there is no click, Your solenoid is not working. The problem could be no voltage is getting to the solenoid, or the solenoid is bad. No voltage getting to the solenoid can be checked by putting a voltmeter on the smaller wire going to the solenoid and turning the key. You can make a substitute voltmeter by buying a 12 volt car light and a socket to match connect 2 wires to the socket and you have a voltage indicator, put one wire on the smaller wire on the solenoid and the other wire to the engine metal (the ground wire). turn the key and see if the light come on. If it doesn't the solenoid/starter is bad.
