Nissan Maxima - intermittent daytime running light

Hi,

One daytime running light is always on when driving, but the other is on sometimes, off others. It seems to be on when the engine is cold and off when hot.
I have checked the light, bulb, socket and for loose wiring, but it still exists.

Help please,
Mike

This is a common problem for this car. Most likly by the control module.that has cold solder joint inside. You can replace it with a used one; but if the solder joint inside is not reheated/reflowed the same problem will come back soon.

I would start looking at the relay for the DRL, it sounds like the relay might me overheating and causing one of the lights to go out, or it could be that the element in the bulb is bouncing and making connection from time to time giving the appearance of a malfunction.

"Warning Lights" on the dashboard of "1995 Nissan Maxima"

The warning lights coming on with the key in the on position is normal. If the key is turned to the start position and the engine will not crank over, suspect an internal starter motor problem or lack of power to the starter solenoid. You can try tapping on the starter motor with a blunt object while someone holds the key in the crank position to see if it starts when this problem occurs. If it starts using this procedure, the starter motor will be defective

It sounds like your ECU might be having some troubles. Try disconnecting the battery for 1/2 an hour, then reconnect it and start it up. Let it run for maybe 10 minutes without driving to let the ECU reset. Then take the vehicle on a short drive to let the ECU gain info on the fuel and air conditions.

Hi,

I had the same problem with my transmission and the issue was with the Revolution Sensor on the transmission box.

Replaced it myself and the issue is permanently resolved.

Check for broken cables, proper ground to body, if headlights have diferent circuits if does, check individual fuses.

My nissan maxima stalls

Every answer here is wrong. This has been driving people nuts for 15 years. The problem is the engine wiring harness which has a bend going past the right strut tower, Nissan had a service bulletin on this in September of 1999, Google it, it's in pdf.
