On the crank mark on my festivs 95 where do i line it up with the plastic mark on the engine, on the first mark, in the middle or on the other mark? it keeps throwing itself out of timing. Is this to do with the Distributer?

This is a general view of the timing marks on the engine and the pulley, yours may not be the same but should be similar enough.

on the crank mark on my festivs 95 where do i line - images?q=tbn:and9gcs1xg29mxl9_sakzrhjrhl9kkxpb5g-farkjjf_zy39dk3yjisnoaEvidently the timing angles should be on a placard within the engine compartment but are somewhere between 10 and 15 degrees BTDC. To set it correctly you need a timing light and remember to tighten the clamp on the bottom of the distributor on completion, This is probably why you timing is throwing itself out.

How do i find the timeingf marks

If I remember correctly, there are little notches in the plastic cover over the cams and they correspond to lines or dimples in the cam sprockets.
You may need to use a wrench on the crank bolt to turn the engine over once OR TWICE to make the marks line up properly.

Once you've found them, mark them with a dab of WhiteOut and you can easily see them next time.

On the crank, there's a little tab or protrusion on the back of the crank sprocket that lines up with a mark on the block. ALso hard to see until you've seen it the first time, then it makes sense and you know what to look for next time.

Where are the timing belt marks located

dohc h23 engine right? there should be two lines etched into the cam gears that will line up with a little arrow or triangle just below the top of the head under the valve cover cant miss it. also the cam gears should have one of the spokes engraved up which will be aimed at 12 o clock up on the crank there should be for little notches cut into the big pulley one lone mark and three in a group line up that middle notch in the trio with a timing mark just behind the pulley on the block or plastic timing cover goodluck

Set timing on a 1992 honda prelude, 2.3 engine, I REPLACED THE DISTRIBUTER AND NOW ITS COMPLETELY OUT OF TIME, detailed instructions please

  1. Locate the service check connector and, if applicable, remove the cap. On 1988-91 Preludes, the cap is yellow and the connector is located next to the vacuum control box in the engine compartment. On 1992-95 Preludes, the service connector is located under the middle of the dash. On 1990-93 Accords, the connector is blue and is located behind the right front kick panel, under the dashboard. On 1994-95 Accords, the service connector is located behind the glove box. Use a jumper wire to connect the two terminals of the service connector.
  1. Following the manufacturers instructions, connect a timing light to the engine. The positive and negative leads connect to their corresponding battery terminals and the spark plug lead to No. 1 spark plug wire.
  2. Make sure that all wires are clear of the cooling fan and hot exhaust manifolds.
  3. Set the parking brake and block the front wheels. Start the engine. Check that the idle speed is set to specifications.
  4. Point the timing light at the timing marks. On all models except 1994-95 Accords, the marks are on the flywheel. On the 1994-95 Accords, the timing marks are on the crankshaft pulley. When the engine is idling, the red mark must align with the pointer. Some timing marks are indicated by 3 lines; the center one must be aligned with the pointer.

  1. If necessary to adjust the timing, loosen the distributor hold-down bolt(s) and/or nut and slowly rotate the distributor in the required direction while observing the timing marks.
  2. To complete the adjustment operation, tighten the hold-down bolt, taking care not to disturb the adjustment.
  3. Switch the engine OFF . Reinstall the rubber plug in the timing window and remove the timing light. Remove the jumper wire.

Jetta 2001- timing belt broked and now im traing to get the engin on time

There is a very good chance you bent some valves when the belt broke. If it's a 1.8 turbo then definitely, 2.0 you have a small chance that it is ok. The marks are easy to see, one notch on the cam and one on the crank, the crank lines up to the line on the plastic cover that covers the t belt, the cam lines up to the plastic backing piece that is bolted down with the valve cover. Best of luck.

How do you synchronize timing belts when installing them?

find the mark on the flywheel. it will be 3 marks close together ,( it will NOT be the ignition timing mark) line the middle mark to the pointer on the flywheel. cover. (top of engine, to the rear) now one cam pulley mark will be at 12 o clock, and the other at 6 o clock, it doesnt matter which. once the belt is on and the marks lined up, then tension the belts. once they are on, you can put the front crank pulley on and it should run. the cam pulleys may want tp turn one way or the other when lining up the marks, but they must end up, tensioned, with the marks lined up.
