The tappets on this car are hydraulic and do not require setting, however, if they are noisy try cleaning the hydraulic adjusters with penetrating oil or kerosene so see if that will free them. If that does not work, they will have to be replaced.

Hi im just ready to reset tappets could u please tell me the setting metric/imperial dosnt matter. 1992 festiva. thanks derek

They are hydraulic and can't be set. If they're noisy, they need to be replaced. A common problem.

How do I adjust the rear brakes on a 1993 WA Ford Festiva?

the brakes may adjust themselves if you back up quick and slam on brakes several times, they are self adjusting, however some get junk all over them or rust so this wont work, if so there should be a little slot (maybe with a rubber grommett covering it, and you can adjust with a brake tool or good screwdriver if you are patient..

Ford festiva 93 model wa

i gather that you are keeping the transmision selector handle in the Drive position.
qturn the car around and go up the hill again but this time set the selector on 2 and see if it works better.
then try it in drive position again but at a slow speed,,the trans should stay in a lower gear and pull easily.
This will tell you if the trans is shifting properly or not.

And no i doubt very much if it is the filter since you dont mention any problems on a level roadbed.
