Sounds like the fuel line still has air in it. this should correct itself if you can get the engine to run long enough. fuel pressure builds on the pump side of the fuel rail and when there is an exess ammount of pressure (lack of fuel consumption) the fuel regulator should send the extra gas back to yhe tank to run thru again. try holding down on the accelerator when starting this should send extra fuel to the injectors and may help "prime" the line. you cant flood the engine so dont worry about that just dont over rev the cold engine. this should clear up on its own. the only other thing it could be is an obstruction in the fuel filter or the inlet sock on the in tank pump. if thre was a lot of sediment in the tank it got sucked up withe the last bit of gas in the tank, you may have to change out the filter.

When you turn the key to "on" you should hear a humming sound for a bit - that's the fuel pump.
If it died from lack of fuel, the entire gas line was sucked dry, and there's air in it - may take awhile to work all the air out.

Engine stall when put into gear.

There are a few possibility on this one. If you run it out of gas or really low on gas you could of sucked junk up from the bottom of the tank and you will need to replace your fuel filter. Another is that your fuel pump us going bad and you would need to check the pressure. Your throttle position sensor may have gone bad. Your idle control valve is another. Your map sensor or mas sensor could be bad

2000 gmc jimmy starts in AM fine won't start after sitting in sun all day

Can you jumper the fuel pump and make it start and continue to run ?
Have you checked to see if you are getting spark when it won't start ?
Could be a relay or coil, ignition module, or other component.

1999 gmc sierra 2500 6 liter ran out of gas now won't start

If you are at or near the 100,000 mile mark then your fuel pump may have failed. If you remove the fuel filler cap and listen carefully at the filler neck while someone turns the ignition key to "run" [don't actually crank the engine] you should be able to hear the fuel pump buzz for about a second and a half as the key is turned On. If you don't hear the pump buzz then odds are your pump is dead. Your pump may have actually failed making it appear as though you ran out of fuel. Not to uncommon. Hope this helps and good luck!

Ran out of gas-truck won't start-replaced fuel

you probably have air in the lines, if you have a carb, spray some quick start into the carb and turn it over, if it starts and then dies when the starting fluid has run out, you probably need a fuel pump, since the running of the car should have blown out any air that was in the line, If your car is fuel injected, loosen the bolt cap at the end of the injector line that supplies the fuel,, and tap the key once,, ( don't start it,, ) just turn the key on and off 3 or 4 times, this should blow fuel out of that loose bolt head, if it does your getting fuel, if not, back to the fuel pump, also you can check this link, http://www.aa1car.com/library/us1296.htm

Probably a temperature sensor making the engine controller think it is hot and making the fuel very lean. Or, if old school, automatic choke is stuck off.

When your replaced the pump did you replace the fuel filter? You may have a fuel pump relay causing you some grief. I believe it is located in the engine compartment in the fuse center on the left inner fender. Check the relay and any related fuses. Check the electrical connection at the pump. They had problems with some of them and they would get kind of hot and distort and corrode. They have new updated ones that can be easily installed.

1989 truck stalls when hot.

Have you chg. fuel filter? If so, best to do a fuel pressure test, sometimes( not always) when the pump gets warmed up they can loose a little pressure and thats all it takes just a few # under recamended p.s.i and the truck quits running, you may hear the pump run but its not putting out the correct pressure until it cools down and it starts working again, but after a while quit all together.
