Question about Acura TSX

2 Answers

When I turned on my Acura TSX A/C, it was blowing hot air, so I took it into the dealership. The customer service rep called me later and told me that I had a leak in my A/C hose that was causing freon to leak out. The cost to replace the hose including labor is $550. I was not given the option of having the leak repaired. I admit that I have a difficult time trusting car dealerships. How do I know if the car didn't just run out of freon and need to be filled?

Hi,
I cannot dispute the price the dealership quoted.
That said, a leaking A/C hose cannot be repaired. It needs to be replaced. These are vehicle specific parts so can get expensive. It also costs to vacuum the A/C system and refill with the the system
with freon.
The system ran out of freon because of the leaking hose, put in more freon with the leaking hose it all leaks back out.
So in effect the repair is a new hose, and a refill.
Hope this helps settle your confusion,
Wayne

Hi, any time the refrigerant is low, it is due to a leak. The leak may be in the evaporator, condenser, compressor, or hose. A leak in the hose is actually the least expensive to repair, but the system must still be emptied, repaired and refilled. Though you could probably have it repaired for less by shopping around, just refilling the system would not result in a long term solution. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Something is wrong with my AC/ Heat in my 2003 Acura TL-S. I took it to acura $$$$ for a diagnosis but was told that the blower motor needs to be replaced. I took it to another mechanic and was told to...

It sounds like whatever your dad did needs to be un-done. If you are getting hot air then you don't need to replace the blower or any part of it, it sounds like something is just wired up wrong. I would ask you dad what he did and if he can change it back.

I need the code to mt radio in my acura tsx i unhooked the battery and now its saying code

Check your owners manual sometimes they will mark it in the manual or in the papers with the car. if not then go to the dealership parts department or service department for the code . you might have to show proof of ownership depending on the state rules or dealer rules.

2004 Acura TSX Radio and A/C PROBLEMS

You might have to reset the Radio: Here is how it has to be done without costing you a bunch of money - Every time the battery is disconnected this has to be done: If you have jumped or replaced the battery at anytime this will happen. You have to get the serial number off the radio by removing it or partially taking it out to see the numbers on it try not to remove any cords. With the stereo out (to make sure you get the right number off of it) call an Acura dealership with the number and they will give you the another number to enter into the stereo and directions on how to punch the numbers in. Make sure while you have the stereo out you write the serial number down and keep it in a safe place also the number that the Acura dealership gives you because if you sell the car or if it happens again its easily accessible. Good Luck!

Very delayed ignition and weird start-up!

I do have a 04 TSX, but never came across the issue you report. However, I had an old car once that had a similar issue which I traced to a bad sparkplug which was replaced to fix the issue. Also, you could first try and check your batteries and maybe put a new one to see, if that resolves it. Hope it helps.

Intermittent Problem

Not sure if my situation helps or not, but here you go.....

I have a 2006 H3 that has 21,000 miles, last week my husband was driving and lost power, service engine came on, and it kept flashing stabilization problem. Called roadside assistance and had it towed to the dealership. Dealership said it was a dead battery and replaced it. Took the vehicle home and didn't drive for a couple of days. Drove again a couple of days later with no problems. 2 days later tried to start and vehicle had no power could not start at all. Called road side assistance and had it again towed to dealership. Dealership told us the main computer was bad and had to be replaced. We were told it is NOT a common problem, heres hoping we don't have any other issues with the vehicle.
