Hi, you will have to separate the transmission far enough to get the input shaft out of the clutch spring plus the thickness of the slave, as the slave must slip off the input shaft. I don't think it will fit thru the access panel either, sorry.

Yes it does because the slave cylinder actually bolts to the transmission input shaft.Be sure that when you put the new one in that the bleed screws and coupling are facing the left side of the transmission.

Do you have to drop trans to install slave cylinder on 95 ford ranger

I know the regular sized Ford pickups had the slave cylinder inside the bellhousing, requiring transmission removal for replacement (not very smart, Ford!) So I suppose your Ranger, too, if you don't see the cylinder on the outside.; Most people who go through this replace the whole clutch and the slave cylinder at the same time, to avoid having to do it over again.

How to install a slave cylinder on a 95 ford ranger

The easiest way to deal with this problem is to order the complete preblead slave cylinder kit.
You can, just go with a new slave cylinder but because of the age of the other parts. You may run into other problems down the road. Why have to do it twice.
To replace the slave cylinder only:
Its easy, just carefully push/remove the small metal pin that hold the plastic line to the slave cylinder. then push-in and turn counterclockwise, to remove slave cylinder. Then install new slave cylinder and reverse the procedure. Now bleeding the system will take a while. But all you will do is just keep pumping the clutch pedal until the pedal returns.

How do I remove the fuel Tank on a 1996 ford ranger?

You need to seperate the tank and pump for tank to be able to be seperated from vechical or you can attempt to remove the fuel lines. and all you need to do is release the tank straps with a 9/16 socket and be sure it is supported and low in gas. To gain access to the fuel pump, it is necessary to remove the fuel tank.
  1. Depressurize the fuel system and remove the fuel tank from the vehicle.
  2. Remove any dirt that has accumulated around the fuel pump attaching flange, to prevent it from entering the tank during service.
  3. Turn the fuel pump locking ring counterclockwise using a locking ring removal tool and remove the locking ring.
  4. Remove the fuel pump and bracket assembly.
  5. Remove the seal gasket and discard it.

To install:
  1. Put a light coating of heavy grease on a new seal ring to hold it in place during assembly. Install it in fuel tank ring groove.
