Question about 2001 Honda Civic

1 Answer

Air conditioner staying on...

Why is it that the air conditioner in a 2001 honda civic is on while the defrost option is selected on the air vent control dial?. When we select the defrost on either the defrost and/or defrost vent setting the air conditioner light is lit up, and cannot be turned off unless the selected setting is turned to the vent options.... major annoying what is up with that??

Not complaining.... as it is a Honda.. but seriously what is with the A/C button..
Peace out

Many cars use air conditioning as part of the defrost function. Cold air will clear windshield faster than hot air.

Where is the " Outside " air vent located? the " circulation " button is for " inside " air only.

Normally the system pulls outside air in unless you select defrost or push the "circ" button to override the system. The outside air comes in from the area in front of the windshield.

2003 F-150 air conditioner won't select panel vents. Air is cold but stays on defrost vents, for a long time. Eventually switches at stoplight. Any ideas?

Sounds like you may have some sort of vacuum leak to the control head or a faulty control head. Actuators are vacuum operated.

Check to make sure that all of the wires that come from the a/c on/off switch are plugged in and check your fuse panel too.

A\c compressor , defrost

That is actually the design of Honda defrosters. The air conditioning system by design dries out the air in the car. To increase the efficiency of the defroster Hondas automatically turn on the air conditioning. This dries out the air and de-fogs the windows.

A/c not changing to heater

The air temp control blend door is inop, it may be electric or driven by engine vaccum, but either way this is the problem to fix. I suspect yours is vaccum since more than one function is not working, temp control and air distribution, i.e. floor, defrost and dash vents
