I would suggest first checking the seal on the air box and all connections to your intake. Make sure there are no penetrations where air could leak. As you probably know, the 6.0 has a world of problems, but I cannot tell you if this is related to the engine or not.
Code 113 is a problem with the air charge temp sensor output. It measures the temp of the air in the intake manifold. Code 0603 is loss of ECM memory - usually when the battery is disconnected. Code 1728 is a problem with the transmission - the sensors in the trans told the computer the transmission slipped between shifts. There is a tech service bulletin from Ford for 1996 model trucks so you may want to check with them on that one. The first code can cause driveability problems.
Most likely if it is only oil, it is most likely valve cover gaskets. If you see any antifreeze in the fluid then it could be the intake manifold gasket as well.
Blow by is what you are describing coming out of the oil fill cap. A little is normal, it all depends on the internal condition of the engine. I would not be to quick to say that you have glow plug issues. I would look at replacing the cam censor on the 7.3 engine there is a recall from ford for this on some model year 7.3 liter diesels
