The transaxle failures are high
I would have a trans shop check it out
If the transaxle is original good luck

Change the Coil in your van,my dad just had the same problem,it wouldnt go up above 45mph without rumbling really bad,and the code reader read the computer in the van and it says it has cylinder 1 misfire,thats why u cannot go above 40 mph,u can get a coil from your local junkyard for around 30 bucks,unscrew a few bolts re-install the new one,and plus in the spark plug wires and test drive it,this will solve your problem.
