Question about Ford Ranger

1 Answer

I don't have a diagram for the spark plugs and wires. My truck is missing and I think that maybe it might be a spark plug problem.

You shouldnt need a diagram , replace the plugs. replace each wire individually dont take them all off at once. you can mark no.1 position on the dist cap. also take a photo or two with your camera or phone. To help more you would have to supply the car model and engine details. If you replace the wires carefully one at a time you should have no problems. If this helps Please Vote Jeff

I need a spark plug wiring diagram for a 4.6l Triton V8. 2001

Your shouldn't have any spark plug wires on your vehicle. There should be a coil on top of each spark plug. The firing order is 1 3 7 2 6 5 4 8 if that helps. I went back a year incase you had a late model 2000 but that 4.6 also has a coil on plug. If you do have spark plug wires, I don't think that's the original engine then.

The 305 is a cyl 5 miss fire the 420 is a cat convertor preformance code When you have a miss and run is with no spark in 1 cyl fuel continuse to go into that cyl and cat convertor burn up when raw fuel hits them .So you have to fix the miss maybe plug wire check for spark at coil do comp test on #5 and check frt cat look for chunck in side .shifting canot be preformed if cat is bad not enough torx.

If this is the 5.0l or 5.7l V8, replace your spark plug wires, and maybe your spark plugs. Check your Ignition Coil or Distributor Cover for cracks, damage, or leaks where the seal between the distributor and cover meet. Replace as needed.

If you have the diesel V8, check your wires going to each glow plug and repair as needed. You may wish to change your glow plugs at this time.

If the truck still has problems in wet weather, check all your wires for damage. You don't want any bare wires. Make sure you have a ground going directly from the battery to the frame and from the battery to the engine/transmission.

2004 F150 6 cyl - engine misses

yes , if it is sparking to ground or from the coil , but if it is comming off the wires down by the coil then its the wires (maybe laying on a hot point of the engine)
but also check the wires all the way to the coil to see if they maybe sparking somewhere along the way
