Question about 2010 Volvo XC60

Open Question

Hi. I put 6L of '91 octane' petrol in my MY10 Volvo xc60 D5 before I snapped free of my brain fade and realized what I was doing. There was 1/4 tank (approx 15L) diesel already in there, but regardless I have not started the car and had it immediately towed to home (2 mins drive away!). I want to drain the tank myself as I know that a mechanic will charge handsomely fir the privilege. Can you guys help me with how to do this?

SOURCE: 1992 volvo 940 turbo died while driving and will not start

two things to check,,, there is a crank sensor at the back of the engineby the bulkhead,,at the top of the engine where the gearbox joins ,,,the sensors are known to be faulty if sometimes ,,, check the cable to the sensor,,if it is damaged replace the sensor,,,the other common problem is the fuel pump relay,,, behind the fusebox in the dash

SOURCE: how can i drain the fuel tank on a volvo V 70 2003 model

Get a hose and siphon out until empty, diesels can run if you have a little gas in it but too much is not a good thing obviously.

SOURCE: VOLVO S60 2004 D5 3RD GEAR GEARBOX CRUNCH

Sounds as if a synchronizer is going out in 3rd gear, or 3rd gear maybe stripped. I would get it checked by a tranny (transmission) shop before it ended up costing you more money. There is a possibility that there may be some shavings on that gear as well, which would just need cleaned.

SOURCE: Car won't start

If there is a blinking car icon with an "X" over it. This icon means the Immobilizer has been activated and hence won't allow the car to start. It could be due to a bad SCU, Start Control Unit. The SCU is actually the ignition switch on these cars.
Most of the time it's triggered by the anti-theft system..You can try this trick i learned that the dealers won't tell you...try locking and unlocking of the doors five times with the remote to reset the immobilizer and see if this helps.
Good luck...i hope this helps...please take a minute to rate me a fixya.

SOURCE: My Volvo D5 has a error code P0087 Fuel pressure

There are a few things that could cause fuel pressure:

  1. Clogged fuel filter
  2. Clogged fuel injectors
  3. Bad fuel pump
  4. Leak in fuel rail
You should start with the fuel filter as this would be the most common cause. It would be a good idea to check the fuel rail first, although it's less likely to be the problem if you do find a leak, it would tend to eliminate the other conditions. Best of luck.

Take your vehicle to the dealer. This is a known issue having to do with the drain hose for the sunroof.

What octane fuel do i use in a 2005 Mitsubishi diamante 91 or 96

95 octane is the only fuel available here in spain so if your not sure use the higher grade as 91 octane is what we used to use for very low compression engines like truck engines when i was young ,these low compression long stroke engines were used a lot in bygone years before the advent of the introduction of diesels in the late 60s

Thes is called a spark ping because of burning a lower octane of gas. I would try a higher octane and also injection cleaner. Hope this fixes your problem.

High fuel consumption

Hi There,

If you are wanting to lessen the high fuel consumption you must do the following.
1 - Over-Reving is a big no no. Keep the revs between 2 and 4 thousand rpm. (it is highly easy to over rev so lessen the throttle)
2 - You can buy a product called octane booster. The higher the octane in the fuel tank the better for your car. To use insert into fuel tank as you would a bowser nozzle and release amount of octane as per product intructions prior to filling up with petrol, then add petrol after. This ensures proper mixing of octane throughout tank.

Hope this helps

Cheers Buckaroo,
Chris.

My volvo v70 has failed the french mot test due to high emissions ; the cat con is only 2 years old ; what is the best way to approach this prob

CHANGE THE OIL TO TOP QUALITY OIL THEN CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS TO BETTER SPARK MOST PROBABLY IRIDIUM THEN CHANGE THE AIR FILTER TO A BMG AIR FILTER (THIS AIR FILTER DOESNT EVER NEED CHANGING) THEN FILL THE PETROL (IF IT NOT DIESEL) WITH HIGH OCTANE (98ron) AND ADD RACING OCTANE BOOST TO THE PETROL TANK AND THAT WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM AND YOUR CAR WILL GO A HELL OF ALOT BETTER YOULL SAVE ON FUEL ALSO THE IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS DONT HAVE TO BE CHANGED FOR AT LEAST 100.000KLM HOPFULLY THE PETROL AND MORE AIR GOING IN WILL HELP

Volvo s40 gdi

My 1998 Volvo does the same sometimes. Better petrol helps for me, these engines like the higher octane petrol. My car does not like the BP petrol at all for example.
