Question about Ford Tempo
It could be a fuel supply problem, plugged fuel filter or faulty fuel pressure regulator. When you turn the key to the on position, you should hear the the fuel pump run for a couple of seconds. This will tell you that the fuel pump is getting power, but it could still be weak. There are other things that could be causing the problem, does the engine have spark after it stalls?Do the injectors function? What is missing from the equation? Engines require compression, fuel, spark and air to run. If it is a fuel supply issue, after it stalls, you should be able to spray carb cleaner (acts as fuel) into the throttle body to restart the engine and keep it running at an idle by feeding the right amount of carb spray.
