My dash lights work but my tail lights do not. They are on the same fuse and the bulbs are good. What's the problem.

It sounds like you might have a break in the wiring going to the tail lights. Does your parking lights up front work? If they are out too, then the problem is with the park light circuit. Check for a blown fuse that says "Park" in your owner's manual to make sure that your dash lights are indeed on the same fuse. Otherwise it sounds like you have a break or corroded connector going to the tail lights.

Under hood fuse box. There will be a parking light fuse that will be for the outside and inside lights

Yes it could be, check the inside fuse box. I would look up the fuse number but our fuse box diagrams only go back to 1993

I have a 1987 toyota 4runner and no running lights or dash lights . The tail light fuse is ok but still no dash lights or running tail lights break lights light up fine.

THE DASH LIGHTS ARE USUALLY CONTROLLED BY A SMALL THUMB WHEEL NEAR THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH ON THE DASH. THAT IS A RHEOSTAT, THAT MAKES THE DASH LIGHTS BRIGHT & DIM. REPLACE OR BYPASS IT.

The fuse box is located under the dash board on the drivers side. I hope this helps.
