Need the engine size, if it is a 5.8 L then the rough idle is normal to some extent, hard to judge without being there. Have you had the injectors professionally cleaned by the dealer, is the compression even on all cylinders?? Lots of things cause rough idle, and I have seen them all.

do you have any codes? it could be bad o2 sensor or Cadalatic converter. i would go to your loacl Autozone or O'relly's have a computor check done its free. there are some cases that the check engin light may not come on but there will be a code saved in the computor. good luck

The most common problem is a clogged EGR valve. In any case, you should take it to a mechanic who has the tools to diagnose it further, because 1/2 a dozen things can cause rough idle in a 10 year-old Windstar.

Hello, I have had the same problem and turned out to be the EGR valve position sensor. The sensor is part of the car's emissions system and it regulates the position of the EGR valve by sending voltage readings to the computer under the dash. Wrong voltage will give wrong position readings to the computer and the computer will open it too far which causes the car to have a flat spot. You can disconnect the EGR valve to see if that solves the problem before replacing anything. The EGR valve is closed when the engine is cold all of the time if working properly and opens under various conditions when engine warms to reduce NOX emissions.
