Question about Jeep Wrangler

1 Answer

My 1991 jeep wrangler will not start. Engine turns over fine. The engine is getting fuel and has fire to the spark plugs. I have already changed the distributor (cap and pop up coil), plugs, plug wires, crank shaft positioning sensor and coil. Sounds like a good tune up but it is still not running.

Check the timing to ensure it is correct.
Check each cylinder for the proper compression.
Try starting the jeep with some starting fluid. If it starts with the starting fluid, you may have a few bad injectors, or faulty injector wiring harness.

We have a 1991 jeep wrangler 4.0 and we changed the fuel pump and now the coil is getting no fire when i hook the battery back up

My 1991 Wrangler would alternate between no spark and no fuel. After replacing the crank sensor, the coil, and the fuel pump twice I started chasing wires looking for a bad ground. There is a black with a yellow stripe wire that comes out of the rear body harness between the front e brake mount and the front door post(very hard to get at)right above the bottom dash edge that should be securely grounded to the front e brake mount. As soon as I secured that ground everything worked properly again.

My 1996 jeep laredo wont fire up

check all the spark plugs, plug wires, the rotor, if it is getting fuel or not to the spark plugs, or if it is flooded then try pressing the gas pedal all the way to the floor when trying to start it, this will cut off the fuel supply and you will only fire off what is already in the engine, then let off the pedal when it is running, or if you were pressing this to the floor all the way when trying to start it the first time, then leave the pedal alone to get fuel in the engine so it will have something to fire off of.

My 1991 honda civic runs fine yesturday and today it wont start please help

the car wont start? do you mean the engine wont turn over or it wont fire or run? if the car does not run but it turn over, check the basic..see if you have sparks and fuel, then check all your fuse pertaining to engine and ignition. the car need to have both thing in order for the engine to run. If you getting both sparks and fuel you engine may have jump time especially with older car with high miles, it the sign timing belt getting worn, you don't want it to break. if you don't get fire from spark plug then you may have a bad coil, distubutor, rotor or timing sensor. if you get no fuel, fuse blown, bad fuel pump relay or fuel pump it self. hope that help some ..good luck

1991 jeep wont start

Did you replace the coil because it wouldn't start before? If it ran before, there must be a mis-connection somewhere. I assume by your stating that 'it turns but will not crank', to mean that the engine will crank over with the starter but won't start and run. True?

The timing belt might have slipped if it did you could crank until the cows come home and it wont start, thats the first place I would look, since yo have fuel and spark.

1988 Jeep Wrangler wont start. I dont have any spark? I recently replaced the gas tank and may have possibly ran the fuel pump out of gas. But I can hear the fuel pump running it just seems to be making...

Try your camshaft possition sensor. If it is the same as my problem I just had to replace that and it started right up. Oh and mine was built into the distributer assembly. Take off cap and pin it's the plastic thing at the bottom. Should just pop out and you have to go to the dealer to get the part. Hopefully this helps!
