Services in February warning message engine service required

The code was stored in the history part of the ECM. Don't ignore this. Usually when you can turn the key off and the light goes away. It is a transmission problem. Could be a simple transmission service. Could be more..

My 1996 chevy blazer pulls back and forth while driving and my check engine light is on

Check engine light comes on and off, these are indication that there is some error code stored in your vehicles ECM. The engine module computer needs to be scanned. These will give the code and as per the error code the further problem can be detected and confirmed. The engine light indicator blinks or remains steady on dash when engine computer noticed any problem with any engine electrically operated components.

For more help, I suggest you to refer the help link provided below. These will let you know more about which areas to look, check, when there is engine light coming up on dash panel.

Check engine light is on again. After driving another 500 miles. the car was services and the found a leak on top of tank. They told me they replaced some cracked cap on top of gas tank. light was off for...

Must be cap is loose again or the cap was not fitted properly and so the check engine light is coming ON again. But if the light is ON again that means the ECM has stored error codes in it.The ECM means Electronic control module, also called cars computer.Get your car scanned at diagnostic scan center,.There you can get the exact error codes for the check engine light coming ON.At www.autozone.com its absolutely free to get car scanned. There you can get the codes for free.As per error codes you can replace the faulty part.-------------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

My check engine light comes on and the performance is sluggish i did a diagnostic test and the code was po607 now the more i drive the engine shuts off and the battery light comes on

http://www.obd-codes.com/p0607

Looks like either a bad battery or a bad ECM (engine computer). The code is happening because the ECM is losing power. Take the battery out and bring it to Autozone or similar store and have them do a "Load Test". If the battery is good, it may be the ECM that would need replacement.

Car rpms goes up and down when driving or idling. It does it randomly can drive for a half day without it doing it then do it all the time

Does the Check Engine light come ON when this happens? Whenever the "Check Engine" light comes on, there is always a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) stored in the ECM (Engine Control Module). You'll need an OBDII (On-Board-Diagnostics) scanner to retrieve any codes recorded/set in ECM. Once you do this and let us know what, if any codes are set, then we can go from there.

Check engine light

Bad ecm (engine control module) or prom chip issue. Prom is located inside ecm QDM is quad driver module which is electronic portion of ecm. Would replace ecm first remebering that prom chip must be swapped from old box to new.

Engine light not coming on ! 2000 beetle

The engine light is only going to come on if the ECM detects a problem. The first time the light came on, a code was set. Now that the engine light isn't coming on isn't a bad thing. For what ever reason, the ECM is not detecting a problem so the engine light is not going to come on. Induce a code by unplugging the MAF sensor or MAP sensor and make the engine light come on. This will tell you that the ECM is in fact detecting problems and you engine light bulb isn't burnt out. When the engine light did come on, it could have been something that was intermittend and is not having a problem anymore.

5.9 DIESEL ENGINE CUTS OFF WHEN DRIVING

Hi

From what I can gather, the engine cuts out and then the check engine light comes on, not the other way around, check engine light and then cut out?

If you switch on the ignition but do not start the engine, you will see that the check engine light is on. It won't go out until you start the engine.

When the engine cuts out, it is just as though you have switched on the ignition without starting the engine, the key is in the exact same position, and therefor the check engine light comes on purely and simply because the engine isn't running, not because it has sensed a problem, hence you have no fault codes, its perfectly normal.

If, however, the light comes on then the engine cuts out, then the reason for the lack of codes could be a short term electrical failure. If the power to the ECM were briefly cut then the codes would be erased immediately, but this would have to be a complete failure because there is a KAM (Keep Alive Memory) wire, which supplies permanent power to the ECM if I'm not mistaken. A good candidate for a complete failure is a bad main ground cable (loose or broken).

Wiring problems a just the worst ever to trace.

Just a thought to hopefully point you in the right direction.

Very best regards

Geordie
